ban for admin login attempt
« on: Monday, March 05, 2012, 17:36:28 PM »
I tried to join our server for the first time as admin, and I've been banned by assist for 24 hours.

It's probably because I put password in aa25.ini (adminpassword=) without putting my nick in it (playeradmin=).

I would appreciate quick help. I didn't need admin login up to now, but some mofos have been ruining our game now, by teamkilling everybody for 15 minutes straight.

I'm assuming you have access to the server. Did you delete banlist.txt?

Great, thanks, I did not know those bans are handled locally, I thought they are kept by master server.

Hmm, but it seems that restarting server is required (just changing the file does not work), and that's what I want to avoid (server full of people now).

Shoot, I think you were supposed to remove the bans from the text file instead of deleting the actual thing. My fault, I never run servers and I forget this kind of information.

BTW all bans are handled locally. If it says your banned, it's just from that server. Until me or someone on the team looks at the elevated PB alerts log that gets streamed to the master server, we then decide who gets banned from the auth system.

If someone is giving you some trouble on the server, just designate someone as admin (player admin, spectator admin, or whatever) and have them go kick the guy out. You can remove their admin privileges afterwards.

I did both, first removed the line, then removed whole file.

I did some searching, you do have to restart the server if your editing the file, there's no other way around it. Le sigh.

Oh, stupid me, the BT accout has to be linked with AA account name anyway, and i'm not sure how to create this one.

And the ban is on IP (which I have static)... So no playing for me today :-(

But I'm happy anyway, cause the server is full (26 slots), just like in the good old times :-D.

when you join the server as an admin you must do it through assist and not using the in-game menu.

And does the PB power system (assigning rights for e.g. kick to people) work in assist setup?
