Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Killcams

I vote against killcams.

Reason:
Killcams allow players to see from where they got shot, which is a huge surplus for those who get killed, as they can discover the position of the killer. The latter is exactly why you should not implement any type of killcam i.e. neither following the killer after that nor being able to see how you got killed.

As a player (especially snipers) you always try to find new spots to be invisible for you opponents and get a stealth kill. The killcam would only take that away and would take the part of discovering the killers position away.

I do think that AAO has been build as a simulator and it is up to a player to discover new tactics (both allied and enemy tactics) instead of it being shown. I already think that the sound in the game gives too much away. A killcam would only increase that and would affect the game negatively in my opinion.

Last but not least, a killcam would be very exploitable. Think of players talking on teamspeak or any other communication device. If Allie A dies and gets a killcam he can see the position of Enemy A, even if Allie A did not see Enemy A at all being alive. This allows Allie A to commuicate the position of Enemy A to Allie B over teamspeak etc. Which I do think should be avoided as much as possible as there is a reason why 'killed' players can not talk with 'alive' players

So to get back to the topic:

- Have you tried to contact and come to an understanding with the original creators of AA. AA was always a free game so perhaps they are willing to give a free pass to keep this game alive. If so advertising would be a lot easier. I know there is an ('illegal') version of GTA San Andreas multiplayer which is huge. Rockstar doesn't really like it though (due to mods etc) but they did not shut it down.

- Have you tried to create a general fanbase using social media without advertising this site. By creating a general fanbase, people might start to search for a version of AA 2.5 which would lead them to this.

- Who of the players is active on other game forums? What you can do to advertise this game very subtile is by using AA 2.5 signatures / banners / avatars in those accounts. Most young players won't know what game it is and might start looking for it out of curiosity. And some older players might see it and think: "Good old times, I want to play it again".

Feedback & Suggestions / Some suggestions

Hi guys,

I am new to the forum so I have no clue whether these suggestions were made before or not, but here are some things I think that can be improved.

- Reducing the sound: When you turn your sound up, let's say in SFhospital I can hear the doors inside the hospital opening and closing while I am at the 3rd floor of the escort building. I do think it is pretty shitty that your sound gives a huge advantage in the game. It is realistic that you can hear some sounds, but come on this far? Some players can win the game by just listening and telling others positions from very unrealistic distances. Which for players who can't (for any reason) is very annoying and downgrades the gameplay because they get shot over and over again based on... sound.

- Servers: I know clans want servers and they should have servers. The problem is that some servers are owned by some shitty admins and with the low player base one is more or less forced to play in certain servers. Some admins pop-up text messages that players should hurry up and rush and change weapons by their likings and not by the players likings. I do think this downgrades the player experience and for new players ruin the reputation of the game making it less attractive to continu playing.

- Speed: As an old player I always liked the tactical aspect of the game and that you could be suprised someone is around the corner. I do think (also because of the sound issue) the game as it is now allows players to play as if they play a regular DM game (dolphin dive, bunny hop, rush etc. etc.)

-Wall bugs: some bugs allow smoke, and nades to continue their effects through solid walls. Should not happen. I don't know if it is a flaw in the original objects or that it can be changed by scripting. If it can be changed, please change it.

So far some suggestions.
