serious coders with more clean code written

+1, I'm also impressed by the recent quality of code written by EliZ and other talented DEVS.

Pit, do you still have your hosp server? Maybe you can give some people here admin rights there, so if not you, atleast other oeople could play on a desent server.

This server (chicken farm) was never mine, I was only admin there. It was owned by guy called Blind.Chicken (good guy, did a _lot_ for aa community). The whole thing is dead for a long time now, at least from aa point of view.

Well, when some popular hosp server admins did this to me in my 'assist-uber-dictator' times, i went to play there with global-admin powers. You should see how they were crying: "you can't do that, this is scandal, we pay for this server, bla bla bla...". My answer was simple: you say you "just" use _your_ powers on _your_ server, I just do the same, on _mine_ (at the time) system. I don't think they ever understood that perfect analogy, they didn't grasp that they were effectively banning people from the game

Server and assist admins seem not to have recognized that the game is not in the situation from a few years ago.

We don't have hundrets of full servers to choose from now. When a player comes to play, he basically doesn't have a choice, he just has to join whatever is active atm. So when a server admins ban someone, it's not like they just ban him from one server. The effect is much bigger: they ban him partially from the game. Example: hosp whore banned from atas and ht is practically like getting a global ban (ya, I know what I'm talking about).

Therefore server owners should be forced to be more responsible. Ban-trigger-happy server admins should have their servers blocked by assist. Because such behaviour is killing the game (actually its killing it more than a couple of cheaters, but that's another discussion...)

I'm going to have a record of minus internetz (active users). I always speak hard, controversial words, which usually are correct. People likes sweet lies about real life- that's why I get minuses.

Most of - internets for me comes from Israel and Pit. Poor bastards.

Gimme more and get a life losers.

That was unnecessary alechko. We have too few players, try to be nicer to the new/remaining ones.

i vote no, and i got no effort to explaine yet why.  :arab:

Yeah, when Possessed releases whole source code, the creation of aa3 maps will be least of assist problems.

I lol'd at Krav Manga, is this an Otaku self defense style?

If you want to speak anything, you need to have a basic knowledge on it.

There is no reason to sequester knowledge and information when someone is seeking it. Let's keep this thread open and ready for intellectual discussion.

Its really refreshing to see assist admin acting rationally and overriding another admins' illogical actions.

Yea why should anyone here help you of all people??????????

Don't spam this thread if you don't have anything intelligent to add.

I doubt anyone here would know. You might want to specify what engine you're using.

I dont use any engine, just opengl libs. Im particular: http://freeglut.sourceforge.net/

I don't think that feature is available for our version of UE2. We can't even do bump mapping...

One thing that was done that was somewhat interesting is that when we had a 3d modeler, he took a mesh he made and loaded the texture onto it and added light in the same direction the map had it and baked a shadow into the texture itself so only 1 texture was needed. This isn't bad but texture quality could degrade it and if you change/move light sources, it obviously won't update.

But what about tesselation? Don't you think evaluation and control shaders shall work even in UE2 engine?

Games & Programming / opengl problem
« on: Tuesday, October 01, 2013, 19:50:25 PM »
I'm recently trying to learn some opengl, and i'm struggling with a problem. Maybe some of the Devs here can help. Here is the issue:

I'm trying to customize the graphics pipeline. Its all fine as far as the primitive assembly and geometry shaders go. But when I get to the framebuffer blending stage, some weird artefacts start to pop up. I first suspected it has something to do with those ARB_fragment_shader extensions. But after some deep pipeline tracing, i found no evidence. All vertex array objects seem to be correct, and offset texture lookups are validated. glGetUniformLocation works as it should, i checked that also. So the problem has be elsewhere. My next suspicion is that unfiltered texture fetches are not using integer coordinates as they should. But i'm not sure.

Any ideas?
