They FINALLY updated their site. It's got all kind of goodies like a wiki and product page and all kinds of fun :P Check it out http://www.head-fi.org/

I've always wondered why their website looked always choppy and displeasing.
Do you reckon anything else besides appearance + wiki has changed?

Well, probably core things being updated so performance increased. They have various features like a products page, more profile options, reviews, better navigation. I haven't fully looked into it but those are the things I've noticed. I think they took so long because the site started as a hobby and exploded but with using an old version and so many mods and a huge database, it would be hard to move. I guess he got the time/resources to do it properly.
