Bootleg Music
« on: Wednesday, July 14, 2010, 00:58:18 AM »
I happened across this the other day and I just absolutely love it. It's like listening to a typical live performance but better recorded and a lot less yelling from fans. I don't believe this is copyrighted since it's kind of like a 3rd party thing. In any event, I didn't upload these, I just found it:

Knockin' On Heaven's Door is fantastically awesome on this, except for some reason the volume is cut low for a bit.

*EDIT*
I have found the holy grail of bootlegs. First off, this site is awesome and has everything you could want:

Second, on that site I came across Pink Floyd studio demo's. No links worked so I spent about a half hour scouring the interwebs and found working links. Get them while you can:

User Rules:
1. No illegal talk. This includes child pornography, illegal audio/video/program downloads. Any links or topics will be edited and locked. I/we don't need kiddie fiddler catchers or unmarked black vans showing up at our doorstep.

bootlegs are illegal the last time I checked.  :-\
Is spanky not following his own rules?  :D :D

IMO, I don't think it is. We're talking stuff that people recorded themselves with cameras, mics and whatnot. The artists largely did these shows live and didn't release cd's off of it. It's not like I'm uploading ripped files from a CD I purchased. I'm linking to files that 3rd party people recorded. It's shady for sure but I'll allow it :)

Lol. If the band didn't release it or give the person rights to record it then it is illegal. Ever wonder why artists get pissed when they see a bootlegger in the audience? I'm not talking about camera phones or phone mics, but people that actually bring a video camera to a performance, which bootlegs are. People pay big money to video tape live performances, tapping it without a licence it definitive illegal.

But it's your site spanky, do whatever you want.  ;)

Damn it, you make a good point. But... how else would people have access to this unless they bought tickets and heard it only once? How is that fair...

IMO, this is different than uploading a movie or released album. It may be illegal but it shouldn't be. People want it and if artists don't like it happening then why don't they release everything they do on CD?

I'll allow posting of sites that link to material that isn't publicly available from any store.

Theres still a ton of stores selling bootleg vinyls around the world. I don't think linking to a file recorded from a live performance is going to help or hurt starving people in Africa.

I'm not saying that it is morally wrong to do, i'm just pointing out that it is still illegal.

I know lol. I just love saying things like that. Some people just get flabbergasted when you bring up something ridiculous like saving and whales and shizzle :)

Gotta add this. Didn't Hendrix's label professionally/legally release bootlegs other people recorded?

I believe so. My Hendrix collection is HUGE and I can't imagine that it was all professionally recorded because I have like over 100 live performances of his.

*EDIT*
Wow that site is great. I got a Tool show and I'm eying (is that really how it's spelled?) up some other ones.
