The icon next to the clock means that you'll reserve it for when it's available to download.

I don't have that icon. I uninstalled that "update".

Google is your friend.

I believe it was the update KB3035583
(and if google is too difficult for you: http://www.howtogeek.com/218856/how-do-you-disable-the-get-windows-10-icon-shown-in-the-notification-tray/)

Why would you uninstall it? It takes up almost no memory and no hard drive space.

Well, it's annoying having it there. I dislike Windows more and more these days. In fact I'm thinking of going to linux.

Why is this doing something right? They're just correcting their mistakes as always.

As for linux, I've had my runins with it workwise and have enjoyed it so far.

Please elaborate how offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 is "correcting their mistake."
You might have a point if the free upgrade was only offered to Windows 8 users and you'd be implying Windows 8 was a mistake, but Windows 7 is a fantastic operating system, probably the best we've seen yet. I don't see how offering a free upgrade from 7 to 10 is "correcting their mistakes."

Traitor.
Could be worse. He could be buying a mac. :P
