Was sound settings in assist recently changed?
« on: Friday, January 25, 2013, 17:49:03 PM »
My sound has been all messed up as of lately in aa. Its as if the front channel doesnt work. I have had to change my setup from 5.1 to 4.1 for some reason. I have a buddy who has also complained of unexplained audio changes.

It also sounds as if EAX effects are being forced. They are disabled on my audio setup and drivers and software, but yet it still sounds as if there are effects being use when in different environments in AA like in a vent, open room and so on.

If it has indeed changed I have to say WTF?! How can I change it back....if nothing has changed something is royally fked with my sound card or something and it just so happens to have happened at the time of the AA assist crashing and having issues

I have the Xfi Xtreme Gamer, fairly good card.

I also have tweaked settings and am familiar with basically all options and settings within the drivers. And have been using the settings and setup for years. Needa do more testing I guess something could have failed hardware wise for me, headset issue or sound card. Luckily im planning on a fresh install of windows soon cause I just got a SSD to install that I have been putting off for months and now have a reason to get going with it.

DAV3, I am using a similar card.

Haven't had any sound card and/or card setting issues. You might have inadvertently changed some settings.  I have always used the headphone setting in the creative control panel. That has always given me the best directional "image".  I also turn on and to the max the EAX effects, X-Fi Crystalizer. I have most of the EQ frequencies up all the way except the low freqs. IN AA setting I turn the Audio Mode to H/W 3D + EAX. I am running XP with SB version 6 dated 7/7/2010  drivers. I noticed the card doesn't work nearly as good under Vista the last time I tried. Never tried it under any other operating system.

Perhaps try uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers.

Thanks! Those sound about the same settings as my audio. I have screenshots that a clan and i made for optimal settings, even the EQ is tweaked, 2 diff load outs.

I know they did strip windows of some sound functionality starting in Vista, and continuing in 7and I did have issues when I first moved to win 7 from XP.

Everything was running smooth for a while tho. Im going to comb through all the settings again and reinstall if need be. I have also been considering upgrading my sound card since this one is fairly good quality but dated - and I was actually looking at that exact same sound card since its currently on sale at NCIX in Canada.

Ya, thanks for the link, i got basically the same, but some of my ingame options are different as Goncalo also pointed out.

I also have a zalman 5.1 headset so my settings are a bit different, and it was the center channel that isnt performing and making it sound like eax is on....think i may have 2 issues here but im making changes....

BUT with AA down i cant test lol unless i join one of those offline ones

Mine is about the same, however driver default was checked for some reason so i think perhaps that somehow got turned on.

You should try changing your channels to 64, or 128. And changing your volume to 2, and only adjust your volume with master windows / creatives

I also have a ridiculous amount of sound devices plugged into my comp, on board and sound card so I think something could be conflicting or something.

Gaming headset, wireless headset, speakers, wireless speaker in bathroom, output to my tv surround sound, and a small bluetooth / wifi ear set for skype calls while im needing to walk around the place
