Im sure there are multiple ways to circumvent the system. Maybe even direct the shots to be taken off a secondary display - ie people with more than 1 monitor. But its beside the point.

I will obviously be closing assist unless im strictly playing.

It is nice to know it isnt taking rampant ss of everyone's stuff all the time and is APPARENTLY more of an on demand thing targeted toward "suspicious" players. ( should have been mentioned by an admin in their 1st reply - but hey we have seen their ways, they would rather see drama than pass on reassuring information and treat the community with respect )

- But even that being said it as it stands its still quite sketchy and with what they have said, if your a good player your prolly gona be effectively spied on. IF you leave assist open.

I still feel this needs to be changed so that at the very least army ops needs to be running - NOT just assist.

No no, it's just you I don't respect, not the whole community.

Also, this is just a way we know how to detect hacks. Sure, there's better ways but I don't see anybody helping out.

No. The screenshot I posted earlier is on Windows 8. There's no start menu :)

That assist is making screenshots is a good thing. However in my opinion it should stop making screenshots when Armyops.exe is not running or has been closed more than 15 minutes ago. Or when your auth slot is not open.

@Rapture
But the concept is as easy as it is fatal.
See the stats how many people quit with Assist after this trojan features got public.

Not going to argue on when the "AC" should take screens but the logic "why can't we spy on you, got something to hide?" is the typical american logic, where human rights and privacy don't really exist anymore. It was the exact same logic when there was the "trojaned" Assist version, where admins and devs clearly stated that if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about them browsing your PC, because they wouldn't find anything right?

And of course, if you don't like what they do, don't install Assist, simple.

Also, the "fix" to take screenshots only when in game is very easy and there are multiple ways to go about it, which pretty much tells you that they want to take screens while out of game.

#deal_with_it
or
#uninstall
or

Like I said, nobody has true privacy unless you live out in the woods and have no social contacts. OMG YOUR FRIENDS KNOW YOUR PHONE NUMBER, YOUR NEIGHBOR KNOWS WHERE YOU LIVE OMG OMG BETTER SUE THEM.

Yea, it could be somewhat easy to only allow captures when Assist is running but there's hacks that have no visual display so screenshots would be pointless. A decent amount of UnrealBot users were caught when Assist took a screenshot and there it is, open or on their desktop.

there we go again, typical american mentality: if you care about your privacy you'll just get labelled as another tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist.

So what about you catching noobs who keep their hacks on the desktop? I recall you also caught cheaters while using the trojaned version, that right? Why don't you just install full Remote Desktop anyway at this point if your whole argument is "privacy is gone, let me browse your shit". I'm sure you'll catch many more cheaters without visuals and mouse macro users!

If you can't see how flawed your logic is then...

It's called a compromise. Full remote access would be wrong. I do agree that screenshots could be used maliciously (only if someone had a LOT of time on their hands). Point is, they're not. If you don't trust us then feel free to uninstall.

This is what we can do for anti-cheat. Unlike you, we know nothing about coding injectable code or ways to make Assist/AA more secure. The goal isn't to invade users privacy, it's to keep AA clean. But, we're not professionals so we fail at both. What else can we do? Let hackers go and then users come here and rage at us for doing nothing?

*EDIT*
I'll also say that it's this constant complaining that really makes this work less enjoyable. We all love to work on this project but it's really disheartening when people come together to rage about your best efforts put fourth. It's like, why even bother?

Really? ELiZ is the USCRIPT programmer (didn't he also say he coded other utilities too?) while Possessed is making DLLs with aimbot in it and you tell me you have no idea about coding? Must be either some bad or ironic joke...

And no, I'm not "raging" nor complaining because if you check my first post in this thread I clearly said that if Dav3 or whoever has a problem with it to either deal with it or uninstall it. I was only talking about your privacy arguments.

And you can't really call them "best efforts" when there are other viable options to your latest "detections" like that file scan program you mentioned (eg.: search for "unrealbot.exe" or whatever or by md5) that are less intrusive being it handled by an automatized program.
