Server error (command prompt)
« on: Wednesday, March 21, 2012, 03:34:31 AM »
Hey guys & girls,

Having a little trouble running a server through a bat file. I currently get the following error:

error - open<> failed with "connect failed, with 'No Error'"-
error - open<> failed with "connect failed, with 'No Error'"-
error - open<> failed with "connect failed, with 'No Error'"-
error - open<> failed with "connect failed, with 'No Error'"-
error - open<> failed with "connect failed, with 'No Error'"-
Server is running Mode 0 - Auth Comms Lost:

As a result it appears my server is offline.

Cmd line in use:
Code: [Select]
server.exe global Urban_Assault.aao?multihome=119.252.191.58?port=1716 log=aa25srv.log ini=aa25srv.ini (Can post configs if required)

I've tested this on 3 dedicated servers (Windows) and my home PC (windows 7) with no avail.

The servers run correctly when launched through 2.5assist (our Sydney servers wont authenticate players - may have routing issues to the US)

As i run a server company it would be great if i could get this resolved ASAP. It would enable me to run multiple instances of the game which would be great! Not looking to make money here just trying to keep the Aus/NZ community alive as we only have the one server online atm  :'(

Cheers,

Blur

You cannot run a 2.5 server this way, you have to use the 2.5Assist dedicated server. http://aa25.org/Data/WReadme.txt

What's the problem Blur? The readme will show you exactly how to set it up. It's really easy.

Basically the server won't appear int he browser when i try and initialize it through a bat file.

Works just fine when i launch a server through 2.5 assist. However on our Sydney boxes i can't get it to authenticate players when they join a server. This may have more to do with our IP/Ip-range being null-routed in the US due to our GMOD servers.

Assist has a special server browser that trims out servers not running Assist so that's why they won't show up.

Maybe the multihome IP function can help here? I don't know much about how to fix this.

Hmm is there any way you could modify the server file structure forcing it to authenticate through your server or add a command to the server configuration like game spy do to authenticate the server?

It would be some form of routing issue spanky :)

Thanks for the help.

That's what the Assist dedicated binary does. It runs and does all the necessary communication and launches the AA server. Did you read the readme for it?

Yeah i have spanky more curious to see if that were possible as it would make life alot easier for hosting companies to set up multiple instances. That would surely be a good thing for the game.

Sorry if I'm still not getting it, is there still a problem? For ease of deploying multiple instances you could install a stock copy of 2.5 then drop the dedicated server binary in, let it update and download files, then kill it, 7zip the whole folder and when you need a new server, just extract that 7zip, change whatever you need for the IP and off you go!
