I agree with him that it's boring. The gameplay is stale and so are the players. Same boring map for 50 rounds in a row, you know exactly where the enemy is coming from, they know where you are. Nobody plays as a team and there's shitty tactics.

I've seen other posts where people just hate the gameplay and get tired of AA, especially when comparing it to other games. It's not just me, it's why there's only 150 or so people on at any given time. It's a game for the minorities, the whores, the kids, the glitchers. There would be more people playing if the game had better features and a better player base.
Let's face it, the game is outdated. The only reason people still play it is because they did for a long time. We're not going to get new players to play an outdated Unreal Engine 2 based game. Sure we can change the game and try to get new players, but we will lose a lot of old ones, and if our quest to get new players fails, we're left with nobody playing it anymore.

I agree. We don't have the time, resources or knowledge to overhaul the game. Even if we could, it's an outdated engine that has severe limitations compared to today's expectations from gamers.

Well, I can only see 150 people playing everyday and hundred thousands people downloaded it...So why not thousands playing? Why is that? Because they see that game hasn't changed much. But if we stick with these little changes we will loose people for sure. The game is getting boring for me too because I play for a long time too. I'm an old player and in my opinion it is getting bored. As I said The game should be developing into a realistic army as it was made for. If we stick with it it's just going to make it fail the game anyways without trying something new. I liked the idea from spanky the sound that could be brought form 3.0 I played 3.0 and the sound is epic, not comparing to the graphics of course:) The sound is the only thing that 3.0 gives a good example of the realistic game. I agree with spanky it is getting boring as he doesn't play it and is bored of the game. Most admins even don't play AA or don't play often but it's true playing the same rounds, same stupid tactics and no improvement to help you in the game, dieing because people nading and they know how to shoot those spam nades over the place.
I saw many projects on maap and i think it's enough for next update it's just needs to be finished. You all worry in loosing people which ways we will be doing that if we stick for so many years. New technologies, new engines that will come. New games may come better compared to AA. Any ways you see people fail without doing it. Johnny's system is unbreakable but it wont last long till it will be breakable. The system will not going forever and it's self the game needs to be developed or you get rivals in other games.
The point is thousand's of people download the game but only 150 people playing. People come for hax as the game is old and just for fun playing messing abouts the system.
I know you are beginners in doing this new stuff but guys if you advertise for the job for coding I bet you get answers that they would like to help develop this game for free. I can only see couple admins who really work on this AA so get more staff would be no problem.
My point is if you keep the game this way-you loose people anyways it's not even reaching 150 people.
My point is if you develop this game in better way and in interesting way-you may attract people from even 3.0 and elsewhere and there is a good way of bringing new players to this game. Get more people to help you guys more help is what you need to the community.

I really think you have a lot of motivation. Have a look in the mAAp forum to see our previous idea discussions and how the community responded. I think you should start 2-3 small polls for gameplay/feature updates and see how people respond. We need to know what the community would like in order to have some form of direction before we have any chance of improving things.

I do I really want to see this game develop. Why? Because it's getting boring. I'm speaking one of the old players. Of course many will spam no obviously in the polls as many don't play AA and they have not experienced in it.They haven't played for years for so many years like others did and who wants changes. Why I started this topic anyways? To start develop the game. I like what johnny did for AA...If he would be still here he would like to change the game experience due only 130-140 people playing. I don't think polls needed there is a fact of changing the game into a better. I will make it of course but I don't expect nothing new as the spam of people no before thinking of developing new game than playing the same maps, same rounds, dieing, same tactics and more.
I liked the objective finish from you spanky the battlefield 3 way in objective in bridge as I remember. This was a good way of starting develop, I thought that it will come up but it seems just a fake, and negative response.

Why not agree with spanky his an old player as well and wants changes. Johnny also would be with us in changing the game. Maybe this was another fact why his left because people didn't want to see improvements and just sticking with the same version all the time and he thought thats a waste of time not developing AA.
Also poll had finished in those camos...Most said for Digital but no response if it's coming because most agreed with a new one.
Guys remember you can't play the same thing over the years and years the game needs to be developing and not sticking with the same things over the years otherwise the game will loose players.

Sure the game need some improvements, but we strongly need feedback from the community to start with possible changes.

Thanks for your comments on the Conquest objectives.

I think the biggest flaw in your argument, one that we both share, is the definition of "better". That will vary extremely from person to person. Also, I think you view most of the members here as non-players. While that's true for me and a few others who don't play very much, the vast majority of people here do play on a regular basis. Possessed being just one of them.

I'm just saying that for myself I want a better game with better stuff in it. I'm bored of the same things everyday. Most people don't understand the feeling on being playing this game for years and doing the same stuff as you were doing.
The most improvements I saw was the assist has been backed up, the security of assist, the server list on forum that spanky did, conquest objective from spanky I would like to see that anyways getting back in discussion. And new maaps.
Maybe you community admins would like to play again when the game really would develop. It really hurts my feelings when I'm the only one who want's the changes to the game as spanky too. They just don't know the feeling playing years the same thing everyday. Yes i want a better game you want a better game too spanky. People who don't play and haven't played for many years they just don't know the feeling, this is totally not a humanity thing. I love all your work produce to the AA and I allways be loving your work for AA and other admins. I din't see much changes in the game really in-game. The only thing I saw is no more hackers but it doesn't make the game better.

The only thing left to say is get a poll going for some basic improvement ideas. I'll move it to the news forum and it will go out on Twitter and Facebook for people to come in and vote.

Hello Everyone, I'm very suspicious about-if it's posibble to change radio reports to more realistic?  Like for example
''Lets move out guys-or move out guys or more realistic more if it's posibble tho. It would change the feel in using reports because many people don't even use them in the game.

"Let's move out guys."

1)That would be unrealistic. Like severely unrealistic.
2)In the real Army, radio transmissions are short, simple, and to the point. Less clatter on the radio the better.

The most realistic thing for radio reports is actually what they have implemented in game currently.

I dont find AA boring because i mainly like to scrim, play twl matches, or get into a server with a lot of players that know how to play the game (thursday night fights).  What I do find boring and annoying, however, is pubbing. especially how every popular server nowadays is sf mod. why are there no servers anymore with regular weapons? Mostly everyone has a m203 and i just find that to be a real buzz kill especially when campers just sit around waiting and waiting and waiting all round to shoot that grenade. Same with the "mod gun" servers. i dont like being killed by an rpg every round in an open map like IC or UA every round. you may say "well then dont get killed by it and take cover." well then I'd be a camper and no better than the guy with the rpg.

So all in all i may be one of the few players that dont like the mods and some of the changes that have taken place. I like the classic play and competitive edge of the game. But when you get to changes like maps (more specifically mAAps), thats a different story. I love PBall, ut04, square, spankys pipeline, and even spanky's wip forest map looks very interesting. I like them because i can see them being played in a competitive way. Maps like yetis lair, ice, and monkey island just dont appeal to me at all.

so thats my perspective. dont get me wrong, Im open to ideas of change. I'll give my input. But if want to start moving objectives around and changing the whole mission of original maps, then im against it 100%.

I'm with you 100%. Unfortunately, this is nothing new to Assist or AA. Those mods have been around for years and it slowly killed 2.5.

We have a discussion going in the moderator forums about having 3 groups of maps. Original maps, mAAp maps and ReVamped maps. Originals should remain unmodified (aside from fixing bugs/exploits), mAAps are new designs, ReVamped maps would be original maps with added player slots (Assist supports up to 30), random spawns, changed objectives and perhaps slight visual increases such as more detailed shadows or weather effects (snow falling on Bridge). Aside from those changes, ReVamped maps would be unchanged so the layout, environment and overall feel of the map wouldn't change.

Of course, this is just an idea that's being tossed around. It would mean a larger download but that's a small price to pay for more variety and a halfway decent chance of weening those whores off of boring maps that have been around for a decade.
