question on ssd hard drive

just got this for xmas and installed it, honestly i see no difference on boot up  timming or running any smoother then my western digital raptor listed below

question i have if anyone knows about the ssds, am i suppose to install the software with it as well and if so when installing Samsung Magician under the OS OPTIMIZATION should it be under max performance or max capacity or max reliabltly or advance

i dont know shit about ssd, since all new to me

Yes, install the software, run "performance optimization" and set "os optimization" to maximum reliability. Then run a WEI and restart your computer. This should make Windows re-learn the drive it has.

I have the same drive in my mac, and i love it. I could see a huge difference, in OS boot time, and application response.

I'm using the same one as you (128GB though) and I noticed a massive improvement in boot up time and load times for applications. My old HDD was 7200rpm and 64mb cache and the difference is night and day. You need to install the software that came with it, my computer barely even recognized the drive before I did.

Make sure the firmware is updated as well. Definitely run the OS Optimization tool, it'll help your SSD live longer so Windows doesn't abuse the hell out of it with tons of writes.

It makes a huge difference for me, windows 8 boot within 5 seconds after the bios screen. Optimization is a must indeed.

for the 1st time i doaded a booteg of windows 8 cause every1 stated it was so much better then windows 7, we'll let me say i got rid of windows 8 after the 1st boot up lol hated it, too dam confusing

i'll do as u guys say, probably will take a couple boot ups to  relearn the drive

btw i thought it booted up fast from time of starting to fully loadn of windows, didn't know from time past bios to windows, if that's the case it boots up fast then, and opening application is also faster

A SSD will have no effect on how fast your BIOS starts up. Mine is miserable, almost takes as much time to get through the BIOS as it does to boot Windows 8. Windows 8 isn't bad as long as you install ClassicShell and have it remember your password (start > run > control userpasswords2).

No problemo. A good bonus with SSD's is FRAPS full-HD video recording. Sure, it's not good for SSD writes but recording has no detriment to in-game FPS and that's pretty damn nice.

Of course you shouldn't count the bios, because that is being loaded by the motherboard, only after the bios screen your SSD does the job ;)
