FAIR DINKUM GAMERS - Aussie Server
« on: Monday, February 06, 2012, 23:07:34 PM »
Aussie server up and running, it rotates maps at the moment but that will probably change in the next day or so.

Look for FAIR DINKUM GAMERS -=[FDG]=-

Our FDG Friday Fight Nights are still on and running on 2.5.

Starts around 8PM Sydney time and goes till the early hours of Saturday morning.

Format:
8 Missions of 6 mins then a map change, those in TS get map request preference.
The 6 minute missions creates a fast game and messes with those that are always pitching tents.

Depending on who and how many are in the server we may do 2 sets of 8 missions on a certain map.

Cheers guys and Thanks again for all your work.

lol 97 is good..  I've had to put up with 400 pings until now.  I wish the OS servers would start running of data centers instead of home connections.  There are a few but they seam to be empty.

Now we have an server that most of the World will be able to play without too many problems.

Well done Guys.

It's not all about ping. Bad packet loss or high jitter means that your ping could jump higher without visibly raising. For example, if you have packet loss and the packets you're sending get lost, you have to send them again which doubles your ping or perhaps quadruples your ping if you count send and receive. I'm not much of an expert on network communication but I do know these things factor in.

yeah that sounds like packet loss to me...
You see AA uses UDP/ip whereas most network system use TCP/ip. udp has no re-transmission, error checking, ordering or connection control. Its just lightening fast fire out and forget packets of data and hope they get to the other end. Problem is when you have unreliable connections or wireless systems and packets get lost are not replaced and big chunks of data are then missing and you warp.
In a wireless network connection something as simple of switching on or off a light switch will generate a spike of impulsive electromagnetic interference for a millisecond that kills a load of packets on your wireless network, the network then takes a few more milliseconds to recover from this event and you end up losing a couple of seconds of data. This is not a problem for the more reliable method of TCP/IP which everything else on the web uses becuase this system checks for errors and re-transmits missing data. Fixed point-point wireless systems (microwave radio links) are not prone to this sort of problem becuase they only pickup signals within their line of site but could be affected in a similar way by rain, snow etc.
Don't know if that helps a little. Don't use mobile multi-point broadcast wireless I guess is the theme of this lecture.

can we say naughty words in your server?

Why don't you try it when an admin is on and find out !!!!!

You obviously already know our rules, or you would not have asked the question...

I have only one response to that.

This is a game right ???

Imagine "Little Johnny" really excited about having this game installed and wants to show his skills off to Mommy!!!

He gets a kill then the next thing is he is being called all sorts of expletive names!!!!!

Do ya reckon Mom is gonna let him keep playing this game with so many foul mouthed players????

Our server is G Rated and Fun Rated..

That is all....

Yep but it's rated T for Teen, not mature (lol). Just with "blood and violence".

That's all that has to be said really. Don't like the rules? Don't play in the server. Pretty simple.

Actually, according to the ESRB, once a game has online content where players interact it becomes rated M.
