Some more related questions:

- Is there a way to have kick rights, but not have this [Admin] tag in the chat? That's what I liked in the pb_power functionality: the admins could do their job without "showing off" their "power".

- Does the webtool still work?

- Does the pburcon (UDP based interface to PB server) still work?

It all still works but it uses GUIDs to remove or ban people from the game so it is useless.
The spectator admin function is hidden and on one in the server knows your there, I will fix it soon.

One feature would be useful then: option to disable this '[Admin]' tag in chat for player admins. It makes the impression of putting those players above others, and I don't like it. I can't code it myself, since it involves auth.u (I'm not sure, I just quickly guess).

EDIT: hmm, I just thought that maybe those chat tags '[Admin/Enemy/Army]' are put by the game itself, so you don't have easy way to change it from auth.u.

Ok, but thats cosmetic feature. Much more important would be this: option for giving a player right to kick, without all the admin options. That was really useful feature of pb_power. You could give people rights so that they help you keep order in server, but at the same time you don't risk they mess it up.

What do you think Jon? Could you do it, could I help in some way?

It would be great to have users be able to votekick and vote for map change. I think I have a map voter mod around here somewhere...

Punkbuster power points, unless you already meant about them above. Basically you're given a defined amount of PB points that let you performed well defined actions, as kicking a player, banning, etc. . And obviously the player having such points doesn't need to be an admin.

In particular, is there some way to kick from the external script? In 2.8 I wrote some python scripts that monitored game chat logs, and reacted to e.g. 'kick <nick>' commands from priviledged players, by issuing pb_sv_kick through pbrcon. I'd love to be able to do something like this in 2.5.

Hmm, so you mean that pb_power mechanism should still work? That's in contrary to what Jon said. I will try it anyway.

EDIT: ok, some points are assigned to players by default, but assigning special points is through guid, so it probably wont work.

Yesterday, me, killa, mans, jared, and grizz from GOW were fooling around with pb_power. It's still there, but we didn't test if you could kick anyone. You can type pb_power to get the list of players and their points. And you can still use pb_kick number to add points to kick a person. But we didn't check if anyone was able to be kicked.
