Assist File Locations
« on: Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 02:29:34 AM »
Just in case you're required to delete or change files (as recommended by Jonny) or if you feel like you know what you're doing, here are the file locations for Assist:

Mac OSX: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/25Assist/armyops.app/
Linux: /home/USERNAME/25Assist/armyops/
Windows XP: C:\Documents and settings\USERNAME\Application Data\25Assist\armyops\
Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\25Assist\armyops\

You replace USERNAME with the user account of your computer. Windows Vista or 7 users may have to go through these steps to view their Assist install:

Note: If you download and install 2.5 externally (i.e. AmericasArmy250_Download.exe or any other form outside Assist), Assist will still copy the files to the above location making you have 2 copies of AA. It's recommended to uninstall the second copy that Assist isn't using to save free space.

To quote Jonny:

Don't piss about with the files in there unless you have to, The way Assist works with these files is quite complex and you could seriously fuck things up.

is my assist still ok if I installed it to E:\Americas Army\Assist
I'm getting all flustered cos I think I put it on the wrong hard drive :(

Partition name doesn't matter, ir rather matters that you have copy/write/modify rights on it.

Btw i actually had to look over that flustered and "frollic", lol. You have a funny slang if i can say xD  ;D

It does not matter where you put the 25Assist.exe it will always store its data at above listed location.

If you want assist to store its data somewhere else create a folder called '25Assist' in the same place as your 25Assist.exe and it will see that and use it instead. (or move the old 25Assist folder)

Most people just tweak armyops.ini and user.ini and you can do that in the settings tabs, I don't really see a need for this anymore except maybe looking at demos or screenshots.

Unstickied this post since it's in the readme which is also a sticky.
