Is it necessary to force new people to do all the training?
« on: Saturday, May 10, 2014, 03:59:07 AM »
Is it really necessary to force new people to do all the training?

I ask this because I'm trying to get some of my old AA buddies playing, but none of them can remember there account details. We want to just play, and not go through all the training.

Right now there is no way around training.

So yes, in order to play with a new account you need to do training.

We wanted to keep the game as true to the original as possible, thus training is required just like when official auth was up and running.

Apart from medic training that you gave to everyone?????

Everyone who had an account before the US army dropped official support automatically had all their trainings completed. There was simply no way for  Assist admins to know who had done which training.

Sounds easy enough to understand? I've said this before as well.

They had accts. so they dont need to do training all they have to do is recover the accts. Seems easy to me

Sorry, but this is BS.

You made the training thing because of the cheaters, not to make the game "true to the original".

Be honest dude.

That's not entirely accurate. The manual account activation system was actually put in place before the training if I remember correctly. Jonny just wanted to add training in, it was something to do. Yes, it was discussed that it could be a deterrent for hacking to keep people from making multiple accounts and playing right away (mostly because of you) if we were to ever ditch the manual activation system, but that's not the only reason it was done.

You went from "to make game true" to "deter hackers, but it's not only reason". Now it's fair enough.

To the powers that be, should it ever be decided to get rid of training, I humbly beg of you to retain the medic training. It's use does not end with the game!! The basic knowledge gleaned can actually be used everyday in real life emergency situations because  :sign_shithappens:

Forcing the  \_/ (youth) to actually stretch their brain cells  :?  ever so slightly in the tests imo is also not a bad thing

But to make the game more like the original is, in fact, one of the reasons it was done.
