The government forced them to split so each company became independent (no more phone company monopoly). I recommend some of you do some research on what logical fallacies are, because this thread is full of them. There's some fucked up shit here, yes, but there is everywhere else too. A lot of it is worse.

The proof is the fact that this country is in trillions of dollars of debt. The proof is the way the government works is whoever kisses enough corporate ass to make their lips brown gets to be in charge whether they know what they are doing or not and the way we like to temporarily "fix" our problems is spend more money that we dont have to bail out those shit corporations when they run out. I.E. AIG, General Motors etc...

Yeah but AT&T doesn't even control the whole phone industry, much less most of the companies in the world like he is claiming. Last time I checked Verizon was bigger than AT&T. He said 10 companies control everything with 0 evidence to support it.

That's not proof to what was being discussed. That's just giving out examples of corruption.

MothaGoosE, this is a wild discussion with a lot of opinions. I think it's a good discussion because at least it gets ideas flowing and gets people thinking, right or wrong. I think the moral of this discussion is that there's so much shit fucked up in the country and the world that it's probably best to just ignore it all and live your life how you want as things will go to hell likely after you die so what does it matter anyway.
