I was going to make a comment like this. IMO, if you're soooo into football, why not just play it instead of watching other people play?

Now see I can understand liking to play football. That makes sense. But watching it....does not compute.

I watch football because I enjoy watching football. You skateboard because you enjoy it - and that baffles me - but I have the decency to restrain from bashing skateboarding.

I didn't bash football at all. In fact if you play football, that's great. But watching it...it....whats the fucking point? Really? Please explain the point. Cause I still don't get it. I don't get the "team spirit" shit either. Why do I want team A to win more than team B? Why do I care?

And honestly unless you are willing to hurt your self every single day, and then get up and hurt your self some more for some thing you love. You will never understand skateboarding and why we do it.

I can't tell you why you should care, nor can I make you "get it." It is what it is, if you don't like it, fine, but others do.

It's all about watching vs doing. Killaman likes to watch football. Knight likes to do skateboarding.

 ???

Anywho, I don't understand the point of skateboarding. I thought it was just something that was amazing to do high because everyone I've ever seen doing it was high. I was higher today than I ever was before and I tried out one of the skateboards at Wal-Mart and it wasn't as fun as I thought it'd be.

Skateboarding is an expression of ones self. Much the same way art is.

Laugh all you want but its true. At least for me it is.

And be honest here. Do any of you have some thing that you love so much that even though it causes you pain every single time you do it, you still want to do it? I'm not talking just little scrapes and bruises, but sprains, breaks, concussions and the like. Real injury's not little piddly crap.

I'd disagree respectfully (AJ). It's just something fun that people enjoy doing. I tried it once and couldn't master the mechanics without my ass meeting the ground abruptly but that doesn't mean other people don't like it.

AJ, it's generally a stereotype to see the toked up emo/punk skateboarder with worn down converse, a zipped up hoodie with perhaps a The Ramones patch safety-pinned to the back.

No. I would not enjoy doing something where I physically hurt myself all the time. I play football with some friends every weekend, but I usually only get scrapes and whatever. Nothing that is very harmful.

Topic split.

Killaman, that's cool and all. I played football in the streets while waiting for the morning school bus in middle school. I wouldn't play it now but that's just me. I see nothing wrong with this, everybody enjoys doing different things. I just can't imagine enjoying watching someone else do something, especially something you could do yourself.

I will admit and explain an exception: Rarely, I enjoy watching a couple guitar song covers by various people on YouTube. I could play the guitar myself but I can't because it's hard to play one when you don't have one. I guess I enjoy watching it because I can't do it, at least right now. I don't think that makes me hypocritical though.

Do you not enjoy watching movies? TV shows? It is all entertainment. I enjoy watching my favorite team play football more than any movie I've ever seen.

Oh I do, plenty for comedic, suspense and drama values just to name a few. How is it that football ranks that high? Without trying to sound like I obviously don't enjoy watching football, what makes it so enjoying for you?

Maybe the surprise of not knowing what play is going to be done next?
Maybe being able to shout at the ref/coach for doing the wrong thing?

You know what players are good to begin with, you have an expectation of what team will do what as far as how far they'll make it.
