News / New version of the Assist Client(7.14) soon to be released

Tomorrow, Friday at 13:00 CET we will start the rollout of the new version.

Servers will auto update within an hour of 13:00(CET).
Clients will auto update on next startup after 13:00(CET).

We will try to keep an updated FAQ if problem should arise.
Quick tip.. If you are having problem auto updating, install a fresh install of the Assist clients should help in the most cases.

Hi all.

I've not decided if the final beta will be closed or open.
I case I make it closed I'll need a spread of user, winxp, win7, win8, Mac and Linux

It will take an hour ouf of your time, and hopefully improve the quality of the next Assist release
so please if you are willing to help, list your OS here in a new post.

Testing should be albe to start tomorrow.

Im trying out AA2.5 on Ubunto 10.4.
Running as a virtual machine in vmware

Mouse movements seems to magnified 10000+ %

Anyone seen this/has a solution?

This program was made to optimize the work that has to be done when converting a map from America?s army 2.8.5 to 2.5. The packagenames was changed along the versions.

It matches objects found both in 2.8.5 and 2.5, matching them on: Class, Group and Name

I've created a list of objects(10744 of them)  that exist in 2.5 AND 2.8.5, but under a new name.
I then created this program to make the process as painless as possible:

Step1:
In 2.8.5 UnrealEd(AAeditor), Copy all contentby selecting all Actors:

 
Step 2:
Copy:


Step 3:
Start MapFix2.8.5.exe
Hit "Paste from Clipboard"

 
Step 4:
Hit "Convert"


Step 5:
Right click on the fixed  text, and select "Copy"


Step 6:
Finally in 2.5 UnrealEd, Paste the fixed content:

This program can extract resources from any version from 2.5.0-> 2.8.5.

So if you want any of these things ripped from the game:

Textures
Sounds
3D Models
Player Models
Full Maps

New in this version besides much increased performance when converting encrypted packages is that the Full map export now is fully functional.

At first startup, the program will ask what folder you have installed AA.

Then do your selection, and hit "Load and Export all Packages", wait until the "Export Done" is shown(This can take some time)

When it' done you'll have gigabytes of game resources to play with.

When importing the map into 3DS MAX use these settings:

After Import a map into 3DS MAX, run the maxscript with the same name as the Map to import light and Terrain-Textures, plus fixes some issues with the textures.

If you want to import Playermodels into 3DS Max, use the maxscript called RSK(SkeletalMesh)Importer.v2 that is included in the zip file.

Hi all.

Even if I'm rather sure none will use this program, I've decided to release it anyway.
The program can extract resourses(Textures, Staticmeshes, Sounds and SkeletalMeshes) from:
America's Army versions from 2.5.0 to 2.8.5

Usage:

Extract the content of the exe file to a new folder, on your desktop or somewhere else.
At first startup, the program will ask you for the path where you have AA installed.
It will create 5 new folders in the same folder you started the program from
dds,Here it will place the Textures
Maps
Obj, Here it will place the StaticMeshes
Rsk, Here it will place the SkeletalMeshes
Wav, Here it will place the Sounds


Just click Load and Export all Packages and let the program process all the packages..
This will take some time to complete.

To use the SkeletalMeshes, I had to export to my own format(RSK) so dont look for any program that will be able to import that format, however, I've added a maxscript that can be used in 3DS Max to load the SkeletalMesh.

This is still a Beta, so if you use it and finds a problem, post here

Hi all.

Is it too late to propose a new Video project, or is everyone going as far away as they can from this game?
Normally I would start rendering same old.. running down the Bridge.

But if there are anyone else interested in doing something different than the normal frag movie, we might make a combined effort.

I have some real life experience of project managment, and would be able to handle that.
I would also be able to handle FX. I've made a number of tools that are quite unique.

What is further needed is:
Ideas, in game acting, voice acting and  a Private server,

I have a few months free, before returning to my studies.
