AA Support / Re: Resolution and keybinds reseting

I fixed the resolution with this trick. So for anyone else out there on a fullHD monitor who wants proper 4:3 fullscreen do this:

-First go to AMD catalyst and look under Information, then Software.
-Look for the 2D Driver Path. Make a note of the Path as you'll need it later.
-Go to start menu search for RegEdit
-Open Regedit as Administrator (You must open as admin otherwise regedit will not save changes).
-Open the folder as described in the 2D driver path.
-Look for a registry file in that folder called DALNonStandardModesBCD2 click Modify then add your chosen custom resolution to the list. (Mine was for 1440x1080 14 40 10 80 00 00 00 60 - the last two digits denote refresh rate)
-Exit Regedit
-Reboot
-Check Windows display and Catalyst Control to see your new resolution

With nvidia its easier you can just add the custom resolution in the driver settings.

Poll has been made, you can cast your vote in the Client, under the Polls Tab.
It should be a client option if possible and everyone is happy. Especially if it's not possible to get rid of the summer winter uniforms, in particular the SF soldiers look like clowns with the boonie summer hats.

And bug free experience would be bug free, the switching bodies do break immersion.

I seriously doubt if the Dev's had more time that the game would have turned out great. More than likely they got kicked out because it was time to cut losses on a product that was going to fall on its face in a very big way no matter what happened within that short period of time during the SDLC. They butchered a community by putting out such a piece of rubbish, putting out nothing would have been better than the shit they did.
It's obvious you weren't following what happened when the studio was being shut down.

My point is that they set out to re-make the game on a newer engine. They failed because it was nothing like the AA2. People still enjoyed the game but it was nothing like AA1 and AA2. They finally figured that out with AAPG, it's an entirely different game.

If people set out to re-make AA2, it will fail/succeed just like AA3 did.
No, they failed because the game was rushed early and is still in the bugged alpha status. If it was released in christmas like the devs wanted, and the devs werent kicked out, I don't think we'd even have this whole AAO25 project since AA3 would be a game that you can take seriously.

Imagine all the snow maps etc. they were planning shortly after release. Now we got this stupid airfield coop after years of waiting.

Sure, a complete game is possible. It's been done many times. There's one on kickstarter (or it was) that aims to be a real small-scale combat simulator.

The problem is; no matter how hard you try, you will never reproduce America's Army on any engine other than UE2 and with any code other than the code the devs used. Even upgrading the UE2 engine up a few builds caused chaos back in the day with how mechanics were handled. We all see what happened when AA3 was released. So, anyone could create a new game, it just wouldn't be AA.

As far as kickstarter and retaining the AA code/engine, you then have the curious legal question of what happens when funds are sourced to pay people for their time/knowledge in editing code on a game for which they have no permission.
Nothing wrong with AA3, it just was rushed early and the development team kicked out... can't do judgements based on the alpha version that it still is.

I researched all I could and couldn't find anything other than the standard ACU for US Army. For the Marines, it's totally different, they got MARPAT which has something like half a dozen different varieties.

I could be wrong but I believe the "attachments" such as hats, glasses and other things are randomized by the mod and assigned on round start.
If you go to militaryphotos.net searching afghanistan pics or watch afghanistan videos, you won't see any new pictures or videos from the last couple of years with anything other than the new multicam pattern. They started appearing already in Iraq in 2011, when they were pulling out.

It's been talked about before but I'll distill it for you;

The US Army has 1 type of camo, for budgetary reasons:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Combat_Uniform

All that was done is the camo was updated in-game to the version used in 2.8.5, which is more modern. The death uniform is an unavoidable bug where the original camo overrides the mod which forces the updated camo.
But the US army uses snow camo on top of it, that's why the UCP pattern looks retarded in snow maps and the snow camo was retained in 2.8.5. And on top of that the SF playermodel includes the boonie hat for hot/tropical conditions which makes it look incredibly stupid.

Heck even the UCP is being replaced with the multicam pattern for desert/summer conditions so it's not even modern in that sense... might as well just revert the proper player models without death bugs (which look much sexier even :P)

Go assist, settings, video, full screen and write down the resolutions
Yeah I do that, they're both 1440x1080, but it starts up in 1920x1080 and I have to change the resolution with setres.

I have to use Advanced FS to get the resolution because in fullscreen it automatically uses 1280x960 or similar lower resolution and not the correct 1440x1080. It won't enable the correct resolution without Advanced FS.

I think the Z key is the default key for Enemy Spotted.
If you want to bind the Z key to alt fire, you'll need to bind something else to EnemySpotted first.
That's solved now but what about the resolution? I want to play with 4:3 normal fov which is 1440x1080 but it always opens the game at 1920x1080.

but the Z key is not programable i think. this key is for Zoom of the SAI i guess (i might be wrong).
Worked fine up to 2.8.5 and even in assist before these newer updates.

close assist and start again, but with admin rights. then
you should try a "reset&repair" - look for the tab at assist menu.
start again with admin rights and make your settings. should be done like this.

Yeah still no luck, its the alt fire that keeps losing the Z key I've bound it to.

No.
I've modified my settings and they stay modified without a problem.
Then why does my assist keep on writing its own default version of the ini? If I put them read only it just complains "ERROR CAN'T WRITE. MUST WRITE DEFAULT SETTINGS."

If something works for some but not for you, usually the ultimate fix is to run Reset & Repair AA under Install Tab.
No this doesn't work, it still resets the keys every single time I quit the game. I guess you guys play with the standard mouse wheel for alt fire and Z for spotting since you don't notice this problem?

Yes, that's what he said.
With windows 7 it works.
With windows 8 it doesn't.
With windows 7 it doesn't work.

Unticking or ticking doesnt help, nothing helps, it has a mind of its own.

There is a button called ''save'' or ''apply'', not sure since i haven't configured my settings for long time.

P.S
For windows 8.1 it doesn't work, nothing saves with this version, incase you have it, with windows 7 it should work perfectly and with windows 8. No idea about resolution, maybe one of the admins can answer you that.
I have win 7 and nothing works. I even edited the .inis and made them read only but the assist still forces the keybinds it wants.
