General Chat / Re: Battletracker player rank issue
« on: Sunday, December 30, 2012, 10:07:20 AM »
teddy's right, if you have say 1 hour on SF Blizzard and 40 kills/0 kia and then end with 2 hours with 40 kills/40 kia, then your rank on this map would go low. Hence your overall rank would lower too.

You can explain why some people are general with 100kills/1kia 2 hours session on maps like Arctic and shit as FR has a lot to do with ranks.

Hardware/Software / Re: Get the most out of your computer sound
« on: Thursday, December 20, 2012, 17:38:06 PM »
Recon3d ? A friend of mine has one but inside his computer. However the drivers should be the same, at least settings-wise. If I'm not wrong then all you have to do is change frequencies' volume. Like raising mid-high and high frequencies to something high (+ vol) and low frequencies to something low (- vol) - basically ^^ if you can't change these then I don't think you can do much. I'm of course talking about having a nice sound to spot your enemies easier...

AA was at its highest activity peak from 2006 to 2007 (pub and competition), then went slowly dying in the next years ; so that was 6 years ago... The main problem (if you want it to be one) is that people grew ^^ kinda like an era that ends in one's life. I'm not trying to be dramatic or something, but it's true : sometimes you go through something and when it dies for any reason, you don't wanna get back to it as it's over, your time is done with that thing. I see that as one of the reason to not play AA25.

In the 20 years old range, six years can involve loads of changes. Some players were about 16 when they started playing AA, I assume some of them went other places, discovered new things and shit.
Some other players (especially competitive ones) probably don't see any reason to play AA25 again since they won shitloads of trophies in it. I'm pretty sure some players right now want to achieve something in AA, competition wise. I'm not saying everyone plays for title, but when you've won many titles, it's hard to maintain the will of winning.

So within those "nostalgic players", there will only be the ones that love AA/don't like any other game than AA/still have time for AA/want to win competitions.

My guess is, the only chance of having AA25 popular is with a massive campaign to get new players - and certainly not focus on bringing back "old" players because that will be a natural process, friends will bring friends.

I first started playing AA in 2003 because I typed "Free multiplayer game" in a search engine.
There's NO game like AA, plus nowadays, most of FPS are like CoD, which AA is not at all. So that makes one main difference which is a strong point. There's a pretty good chance that if you don't like CoD or CS-like games, you can like AA. And it's totally free !

I got kicked too for having Supported Fire on my wheel down - I will find a way to get another key but still... I assume this CVAR is related to fighting hacks and exploits ?

Honestly, been there done that. Tweaking settings on your card doesn't do too much. Just makes things slightly more defined depending on your eyes. Unless you remove fog (hack) you have no unfair advantage.

No...

dapand, you might have some legitimate points but even if you're right, there's nothing Assist can do about a third party control panel that manages drivers.

Thought so - would have been nice though, to even things up some more.

Unless your talking about using gamma and brightness settings to see further. Then you would need a hack to remove fog. This can't be done in the .ini's in v2.5. I would never prove an unproven claim false. That doesn't make sense. Rather, you should prove it true. Because if this is possible then the assist admins should know about it.

In effort to stay on topic. Thanks for the Assist update. I'm sure this will only help.

I'm pretty sure this is on topic since it's an update centered on AC. I'm not talking about gamma and brightness nor about .ini - not about AA25 settings - not talking about hacks either. I'm talking about tweaking your graphic card. And it did exist back in the days, I don't see why it wouldn't now.

@ ekcomm It used to exist, why would it not anymore ? If you could explain to me how it's not doable anymore then I would believe you ^^
No fog as in you don't see opponents from 20000 miles, rather they just pop up within the game limits - much more easier to spot enemies before them.

I salute the initiative to try and evict cheaters/fag no fog users but I don't think it's possible ^^ someone will always come around with something.

There are some hackers who do code their hacks themselves and just wanna troll the shit out of a game because they like attention and/or the challenge to somehow "break" a code.
There are some competitive players who are willing to use any big fat exploits like no fog or even using only one tool from a hack saying "Yeah cuz everyone at this level uses it" like a steady CEM or some shit like that.
There are cheaters who just use some hacks to annoy people, not because they suck without the cheat, but because they like to troll, feel powerful and just get attention.

I don't feel mad at 'em, it's pretty much what you can expect from people in other domains in life I guess ;)

If you could find out where and take screenshots, that would help. There's tons of transparent textures and checking/editing them all would be a bit of a pain.

I went and looked for it but couldn't find out ^^ maybe it was in an another version - anyways if I find it I'll post it

Great initiative.

Can't remember exactly but there was a bug regarding leaves : when there was smoke, you could negate the smoke by looking through a leaf - maybe on Blizzard/Woodland I'm sorry I can't recall where...
