Then we go after the source code. just so everyone knows PB does this "PunkBuster usually searches for known cheat program signatures as opposed to relying on a heuristic approach." I think they won't support it due to it won't support their new version of PB.
the game belongs to the Army, the Army doesn't wan't to pay PB to support it anymore and aswell dosn't want AA2 anymore. thats it.

Ok so legal, they have abandoned AAO 2 they moved on to 3 and now 4. They make no profit from the game I would almost bet if contacted they would turn it over to the community with no issues. The engine is old and the source is probably intact. Has that ever been approached?
you better read and re-read the quote.

Quote from: JonnyM
The Cheat/Hack coders kept pushing us and pushing us and to try and keep on top of things and detect the cheats they were using we had to develop some anti-cheat methods that were possibly crossing some legal boundrys in their usage. We're not really sure without taking legal advice but non of us want to risk getting prosecuted for working for free on a free game so the system has been shutdown.

a msg for your guys.

there was no discuss, he just went, saw some fact and erased it all. he has no account here anymore(he deleted it as well), hes not open for discussion/suggestion. :( I think i would not talk to him again if hadnt him on insta. msg, and btw it was me who talked to him. he just wants to leave it all behind, he forgot that some ppl have invested in this game as well, he said that it is not worth for ANYONE to have it back...

This is what happens if you give to much power to an immature pubescent teen.

Mentally ill is the term.

Isn't the whole project published under Sourceforge?
As far as I know you don't need any permission to use/alter those programs (regarding to the licence terms).
You can see part of the source, not that you can rly work on it if the owner doesn't share the complete source there:D

Jonny doesn't want it back, thats why he deleted everything.
25Assist is mainly his own work, some parts of the whole system were build/done by others(You guys have seen it here) etc, he also see some legal issues regarding the "project" or the Assist soft etc, he won't mention any but he doesn't want it back. atm :)

I feel bad for it too, no one here knew that he could come and do it like this;

Currently, All files including: 7zipped game Files(to download the game) and the Auth server files were erased by Jonny.
the auth machine is down as well. we have the sources but not the 7zipped files, we can even set up the auth/assist again but that depends of getting those 7zipped files and getting Jonny to allow us to use this apps.

Jonny himself choosed to end it that way lol, he went emotional again. we did not knew that he would delete all the stuff.
