mAAp Project / Glass Kill House
« on: Sunday, January 15, 2012, 18:38:20 PM »
Here's the topic for Glass Kill House.

I updated the file in dropbox. I made it 3 rooms, added light fixtures & redid lighting, and changed the team names to East Side & West Side because Assault & Defense don't make sense in this map. BTW I didn't tick the mirror flag before I saved, but it's nbd. I don't want to open the map one day and have the editor crash because I forgot mirror was ticked ya know :)

Things I'd like to add soon: some windows so it appears like there's an outdoors, doors (they don't open of course) on both sides so that it doesn't seem like you're stuck in the matrix or w/e.

In case anyone didn't know, pool day is a direct copy of pool day from the original counter-strike.

While that is a good CQB map, let me be honest here, we have to do something about the pool in the center. And I don't just wanna add player blocking volumes because I strive for realism even in a map such as that. Even though AA2 isn't supported anymore, I'd still like to try to support some of the "army values" that you'd expect in the game. Of course the map will evolve overtime to something more realistic while retaining the fast CQB style.

That's pretty definitive. I appreciate the guy taking the time to type all that out.

Thankfully it was something simple like that :D

There's a large speed difference between the beta pipe and the one in v6.

I used to use that one also, but I swapped over to the one called whitespot_alpha in T2-FX because you can set it to STY_Alpha and you have a large range to use the Fade property. Currently I have it set to fade from 32 to 0 and size from 0.5 to 2.5. It's pretty nice looking for those industrial ceiling lights.

Just a FYI, I'm fine with the bandwidth and usage. Right now, I've used 1600MB out of my 4000MB and we're halfway through the month. I can always get more too.

And in case we do run out I've got 103,000MB of bandwidth. So mines available as long as I have it and my site doesn't eat it up.

I'm pretty sure I saw pool day a while back. Glass Kill House originally was just 1 room but I copypasta'd into 4 rooms. Maybe that was a bad idea :P If you edit Glass Kill House, remember to unflag the floor as a mirror before building :)

Ok sure I guess I'll do that today then :D

What the hell man. I started adding those into maps because they look great. I'm not happy. And all it does is spawn a texture, how ridiculous.

Karma doesn't respond well to a lot of things in AA since AA is vastly different from UT. The objects respond to impacts like pegging it with a G or RPG. But if you throw a nade near it, nothing happens.

I've already been testing for the proper values for certain objects and I've gotten good numbers for crates and cardboard boxes already. We'll have to do some more work on the barrels because for some reason the AA devs gave rectangular collision boxes on barrels lmao.

I'll think about. The Cage looks like a smaller version of Glass Kill House. I'll do something about that since Glass Kill House is already a very large map.

There's a lot of players that dislike mAAp being tracked. They think it messes up they're score or something. Although I'd like to see mAAp tracked, it's like my kid.

Battletracker needs to be the AA community site, This is where all the accounts are stored. That is where the honor and stats come from and that is where everyone should be going. This site should be for developers and bug reports.

This. We'll need to hop on some restructuring then.

Great stats. Except I'd like to know who made all the stats text orange, it's so hard to read :)
