General Chat / Re: How healty is Assist for next year??
« on: Saturday, September 28, 2013, 14:14:50 PM »
I don't think it will ever die, true AA fans will stay as long as the game is playable.
I was gutted when I found out the game would not be supported any more, then along came assist, good job guy's, as I said  true fans will stay as long as we can play.

+1

Tried Google translate, not sure if that makes lots of sense:

"hi to all and all,

voila, I would like to create my server, but I can not manage to open ports 1716 and 1717! But I tried blade tip in the box!

which has a solution?

AA2 devs weren't the same devs as AA3/AA4. Thus the problem wasn't that they couldn't duplicate AA2 gameplay, it's just they weren't trying to. They wanted to create a new game that will be mainstream like BF and COD while hoping to have more players.
So I don't really think that game play couldn't be preserved. But all the rest of your arguments are legit

If you check BT stats you see a drop from ~950/day to ~650/day since the AC-shutdown scenario.
That means over 30% are gone.

If we would get rid of Assist it may bring back a lot of them, even without scoring.

What do you mean by "get rid of Assist". None forcing nobody to use Assist. You can easily play without it. You can also build your own site, have a forum, host servers and play with all the rest of the guys who don't want assist. You can do whatever you want.

You make no sense. It's like saying "we need to get rid of BF3 so people will play COD"

Actually there is such place (for AA 2.8.5), you welcome to check their activity there:

Yea, that'd be great. Anti-cheat developers. It would also be great to port Assist to a platform that's faster. Have a chance to rewrite the code and make things more efficient/user friendly as well as implement some new features. Just because something 'works' doesn't mean it can't be improved. Have a look at every piece of software around you.

I wouldn't disagree with your last statement, but I don't think improvements are crutial for the sutvival of the game. AC is. Usually improvments bring an endless ciycle of bugs/bugs fixing which hurts more than improves (imo).

Regarding what Ganja said, I think that the only way to increase the amount of permanent players is online marketing. Maybe you could allocate some of your budget (if there is something left there) on managing a display account in Adwords or maybe some other display network. I think it has the highest potential of bringing some old players.

Developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers developers.

I truely don't understand what we need developers- the game is perfectly fine as is (especially after all the stuff Eliz added).
It seems to me that the only thing that will keep this game alive is an updated (this time legal) AC system. Maybe this is what you mean by developers, idk.

Just because you haven't stated something explicitly doesn't mean you don't implicitly mean something. Don't even try to go this way.

Everyone with a little bit of brains can see it's obvious what you typed. Wether you deny it or try to be a smart ass or not.

Seemingly it's meaningless to discuss this with you since you act as childish as you can in order to win this anyways. Even although you are obviously wrong. Go ahead though if it makes you feel better. After all it is your ego who couldn't handle getting beaten who started this all.

I mean, look at your comment in this forum, I explained why it could happen, your comment had no added value whatsoever except to reply to me with some post stating it's all "luck" (in the sense of yeah, right... "Luck")

Now I do not know how old you are, you probably are older than I am, but I must say you should also act towards it, and stop this childish behaviour when I post something.

And you clearly are biased otherwise you would not reply like this to me multiple times.

I think wickid was just trying to make a compliment without being too obvious, but you took it one step further where he couldn't back off without losing his dignity.

Every day this coummunity becomes smaller anyway, couldn't we just try to get along?

I can do interactive charts like that when you can hover with your mouth or press on them to change visualizatopn if you think you can find it a use for it (or if I wont be too lazy working on that)

Do you have any function in this forum, other than accusing people, offending them, or even hating?

Some good point there...

SITREP (7.5.02)
America's Army is experiencing unprecedented popularity! Just prior to its release, the AA website had an average of 750,000 hits/sec. This was merely a premonition of things to come... In the 36 hours of its release, AA:O RECON has been downloaded by several hundred thousand gamers (thanks to all the folks and the gaming community for sharing in this herculean effort!) At its peak, HomeLAN's authentication system has served over 500,000 authentications - averaging 15 every second! Demand for AA:O RECON has been so great that we've increased our game servers by twenty-five percent the past twelve hours (with more on the way)! All this -- and its only been 36 hours! We were prepared for quite a rush -- but who ever thought it would be something of this magnitude! Thanks for all the feedback and support in making this special RECON version so successful! Stay tuned and check back here regularly -- there's much more to come! [Bacchus]

Taken from the AmericaArmy site. 500,000 authentication in the first 36 hours. What did AA4 achieve in it's miserable 36 hours? 3 downloads, while one of them was by mistake
