Feedback & Suggestions / Re: MODS

There is nothing stopping you from enabling ANY mod you want.
I think they're talking about how you can't just throw .exe mod files into the game anymore without getting kicked.

we dont ask for mutch, do we?
We get asked for a lot of stuff. You might not know this, but we literally have 1 person actively working on Assist, which is Eliz. He's the man behind pretty much every update and change. JonnyM created Assist, but Eliz the one who is currently running everything.

He's been asked for a whole bunch of stuff. To fix bugs, then get bitched at for fixing bugs. New features, upgrade to 2.8, self-healing, co-op maps. You name it, someone has asked for it.

We wanted to uphold what America's Army is all about. In our heads, it wasn't about mods and modded servers, as that was pretty much the downfall of AA 2.5 when official auth was still up. It was about preserving the core strategical gameplay. Of course things can always change and it's up to Eliz, as usual.

I don't buy that the lack of mod support is hurting the game, from what I've seen mods just make the old-school players quit. And really, the old-school AA2 players are the players we need. They're the players that keep this game alive. Not many new players are going to stumble across AA, a very old and outdated game on a 2 generation old engine, and stick with it or like it. It's simply not going to happen often. We need to hold onto the players we already have and try to get people BACK to the game. I know too many people that quit AA 2.5 back when the official auth was up because everything was "pick a weapon". It was a joke. We're trying not to repeat that.

This is pretty much just how I look at things. Other admins may have different point of views.

General Chat / Re: Consistancy problem.

I don't know why Killa said they're not public. Like I said in my earlier post, the general guidelines sort of are, you agreed to them when installing/updating Assist.
The ToU just says what you can be punished for, not what the punishments actually are for each scenario.  W're talking about the punishments for each scenario, not whether the act itself is allowed or not.

Hello,Obvious question, why not?

Could they be made public?

Steve
It's nothing concrete, but we have a general consensus among us as to what punishment fits what "crime." It's always flexible, but I'll post a few.

TKing sprees. Usually starts with a 1 week ban and goes up from there. one week -> one month -> permanent ban.
Harassment is similar, however it all depends on the severity, but multiple offenses get harsher as they go. AutoHotKey is a one week temp ban.
Obviously we practice a zero tolerance policy on game hacks that always result in a permanent ban.

The forum policy is in the forum rules, so I don't feel the need to explain that, although the actual warning system is rarely used.

That's pretty much the entirety of it. Fairly simple and nothing that really needs to be publicly posted for everyone to see. I can't stress enough though that punishment always depends on the severity of the issue. Cases might fall under the same category, but have different punishments. Also keep in mind that these are always subject to change.

General Chat / Re: Friday Night

Good idea. Mafioso used to do a Friday Fight Night where they played a lot of mAAp maps, but they've pretty much disappeared from the game. :P However, 7-8pm GMT is a bit early for me, and probably most NA players.

We have a list of forum rules (which teddy posted) and we also have a set of rules for game bans and what not, they're just not public.

For the most part though, you are correct. We like to keep a more open set of rules because every situation is different. We create a topic for every possible offense and discuss what the punishment should be. This way we all agree on something. It's a little slower to respond to an isssue, but it works. Of course this doesn't happen for all offenses, like anyone caught trying to use a game hack (shadowbot, unrealbot, no-recoil hack, etc) just gets an automatic permanent ban, but we're pretty flexible when it comes to other misconduct.

Can we just get rid of this guy already? He openly admits to tking on purpose.
He has already been banned for a month.

This topic is completely pointless. It doesn't matter why you did it, just that you did it. Any more topics created about this issue will be deleted.

You log-in on Assist, not in game. The log-in inside the AA games no longer works, which is what you're seeing. In your first screenshot you're already logged in on Assist. Just go to the deploy tab and choose a server.

It's not something that is really needed, but it's a cool feature. It doesn't take anything away from the game, but I don't really care if it gets implemented or not.

Um, your account has played the game before, last in June of 2012. No activation is required.

Do not make multiple threads for the same issue. It will not help solve your problem. Keep all your stuff about your server in this thread.

Honor Claims / Re: Honor claim
« on: Tuesday, March 18, 2014, 21:49:31 PM »
I updated your honor to 60. Sorry, but that's all I can do with the given evidence, and 60 is even pushing it a bit. :P
I appreciate you being very understanding about it.

Ok, but a bit of a weak punishment in my eyes for this constant teamkilling

And after this month he is under constant surveillance?
We'll watch him as best we can. Contrary to what some may think we do have lives outside of AAO25. :P
Plus, it's difficult to TK a bunch of people in this small community and not get reported.

The player has been issued a one month ban for excessive team killing. This is his second offense hence the upgrade from a 1 week ban to a 1 month ban.

I don't like giving out honor based on time played as there is no way to know what points were earned. However, after doing some rough points calculation based on your current average score/hours and hours played, you would be around 60 honor give or take 5 honor. Since there is no proof you earned that many points/hour I'll give you 55, does that sound fair?
