They've made a bunch of behind the scenes stuff. Game support, AIM & MSN support, and just little bugs/tweaks. I mostly use it to see how much of my life I've wasted away playing games.

Another anomaly I find with windows is that its fast when you do a fresh install but the longer you use it for the slower it gets, Like your windows could boot in 20 seconds when you first install it and then a year later its taking like 2 minutes, The does not happen on other operating systems, I reckon Microsoft deigned it this way you people go out and buy new computers.

I disagree. If it was true, there would be evidence of it since XP has been out a while and there's people that like to decompile and whatnot. If you took 2 identical computers and installed XP on it at the same time, left 1 running for a year straight and used the other for the same time, you would find VAST differences. People customize. People install programs that autostart. A lot of programs automatically start when they really have no need to, OpenOffice comes to mind with their quick launch bs. Java checks for updates upon startup. 3rd party (Nvidia, Logitech, i.e. not Microsoft) drivers are larger and often come with programs that also autostart. Not to mention the user probably loads files such as music, movies, internet cache. You can't tell me that Ubuntu doesn't do this as well. It takes time to load programs on ANY OS.

I think that would be great. It's really sad to see a lot of rich yuppies buying Macs then just dualbooting XP. They could spend half the money and get a system just as good that is 100x more upgradeable. Then they could dualboot XP with the free version of Mac; Linux :D

Thor, this isn't a Warez site. The original Headshot! never was either. That's about the only rule I have.

R.I.P. My Sega Genesis III and Gameboy Color...

Thor, there's a ton of places that still have it. I always use Filefront, they're reliable and great. Here's the link:

I have this site loaded up every day to check for new deals. Sometimes they have ones that I can't pass up. Watch it for a few days and chances are there will be something on there that you're interested in.

But then is that really fair to benchmarking? I don't think you can remove anything from either OS or it will be a strip-down war.

Sexy right? I've found his skins to simply be the best. You can even customize his and move things around, make it complex or simple, or load custom backgrounds. Check out his work here:

Fanboy flag goes up on the word "rapes" :D Did you do this performance test yourself?

Couple of things:
Ubuntu 9.10 would be a recent release, XP is from 2003 if I remember right.
Were both updated with the latest patches?
Were both OS's allowed to sit for an half hour or hour or some amount of time? XP, if updated would index files by default. This may be the hard drive crunching and why things would take longer.

I honestly see no problem with going the Intel route except for keeping the prices high. It does appear that they used the less-popular server-style 771 socket though... I guess they're still trying to make hardware choices for people. I wouldn't be surprised if they make Intel manufacturer a custom chip just for them.

On average, what programs include cross platform? Just so I can put the images together into one ;)

Huh? Cross-Platform is usually the top 3.

I've always thought wtf the point of a low-riding civic with a body kit is in everyday travel. *sigh* So many mexicans...

@Jonny, I think Carbon had some Lotus and Ferraris in it. I know for a fact that Shift has them as well, I've just chosen against buying them because of the price to performance ratio :D
