The cat scene, the rope scene, the "what the fucking, fuck the fucking, FUCK!" scene, the FIREFIGHT scene, and so many others.. it's just a great movie.

*********SPOILER, I guess *shrug*********

BEST scene in the original is when Willam Defoe is dancing around on the ground explaining the fight between Il Duce and the Saints ("THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!") and as he's explaining it it shows him with them.

Here, found it on youtube. I guess I should warn you that it's pretty graphic.

Unfortunately that assignment was done with a partner and he wrote about the money situation. If I remember correctly, capital punishment costs approximately a whole fuck ton of money.

Some excerpts from an essay from my freshman year:

In some cases, I could see capital punishment being an acceptable punishment, but there are just too many downsides. One example is lethal injection. The executioners who carry out the act are not skilled enough in the field to assure painless death. Those who are skilled would probably like to keep their high-paying doctor and scientist jobs, rather than have the burden of killing people. The unskilled executioners have used incorrect doses that cause the person to feel pain. In some cases, the executioners use the correct dosage, but the correct dosage is flawed. Regardless of the inmate’s weight, the dosage is always the same. A little pain of missing the vein is not all though, he or she suffers a slow death caused by paralysis to there diaphragm. In this supposedly humane cause of death, the person may actually die in one of the most inhumane ways: suffocation. Other problems may occur, by missing the vein or using blocked IVs, causing failed anesthesia or chemical burns. The researchers write that the inmate would be “fully aware of the progressive suffocation and potassium-induced sensation of burning.” The Eighth Amendment of the Constitution bans cruel and unusual punishment. Even people who believe that capital punishment is acceptable must agree that the Constitution is the highest authority, and that asphyxiation and chemical burning are cruel and unusual.

Do you really believe that we should continue this system based on prejudice and, in some cases, racism? Resarchers have built a computer system that can predict which Death Row inmate will be executed. They put data into the computer such as race, age, sex, highest level of education completed, state they were tried in, and whether they remain on Death Row or were executed. Then they put more data in, leaving out whether they remain on Death Row or were executed. Using the patterns from the first set of data, the computer predicted whether the inmate was executed or not with 92% accuracy, correctly predicting 276 of the 300 inmates included in the second set of data. It found that inmates were selected mostly because of the highest level of education completed, and that although race could have been a deciding factor in many instances, it was not 100% accurate.

Child rapists are not eligible for the death penalty as it stands, don’t you agree that the current system is very flawed? What really determines which crimes can result in the death penalty? The Supreme Court ruled that child rape in which the child lives cannot result in capital punishment.

Also, California executes less than one person per year and the entire nation paid for their billion-plus dollar Death Row "improvements". The whole system is bullshit and there's no perfect way to maintain it, especially with the innocent executed. We should just follow every other civilized country in the world (except Japan and China) and ban it.

AJ, here's your answer about college. You shouldn't go because there's people like Thor that need it a whole hell of a lot more...

In a perfect world that would make sense, but in the United States today I will be considered much more qualified for a job if I have a college degree, and its value is many times better if from a prestigious university. Marquette University is not very "prestigious", but it is my goal (unless of course I am accepted by the University of Wisconsin at Madison by some miracle).

TuneUp is an iTunes sidebar that you can drag songs onto and it will correct any mistakes in album/track number/etc. It also searches for albums without artwork and automatically adds the artwork (with a limit of 50 albums on the free version :() It also suggests local concerts, shows concerts of an artist you're listening to, suggests eBay merchandise of the artist (searches artist as keyword, unfortunately), and other things.

I'm kinda OCD about my iTunes (especially album artwork and album/track number/etc. tags) so I thought it would be perfect for me until I realized I've already copied all artwork from wikipedia and corrected any mistakes...

Yea, I dunno about you guys but in an average sentence I use about 5 different languages.
Because the word shampoo comes from Japanese, blue comes from French, The is from nowhere, Good comes from German, and Fag comes from Britain/England/Who Cares.

Shampoo, Blue: the good fag.
Lost. Explain.

You're not serious, are you? XD

Spanky is also itching for a bible fight.

That's what I've been waiting for, too. I always try to start them on DRAAT; I said "may you be touched by His Noodly Appendage" in their X-mas thread but it just died after that.

I agree with your main point but not with all of the ways you are going about defending them. I disagree with what Spanky and Killaman are suggesting not because of religious beliefs, but rather political beliefs and, to a lesser degree, morals. I definitely agree that it is not right to force adoption or abortion on a family whose third child was a result of failed birth control. However, I do not believe in a God or a karma for crossing "His" limits. Back to global warming, I agree that for now, believing it is man-made is just an assumption. Again, government intervention must be in a Constitutional manner and I just don't see that being possible, and if it is it will not do much to help the cause.

Back to overpopulation :P, China's implementation of the one-child policy has helped them, but has caused problems just as major. Couples who can only have one child always prefer a son; a son continues the family name, and - so I've heard - some Chinese believe that only by being buried by a son may you get into Heaven.

The standard of life in China is sub-par, and their form of socialism (just because it's the Communist Party doesn't mean that they have Communism) may be to blame. But Communism is NOT what is in China, and Communism in a utopia sense will never be achieved. The limit set in China was necessary for their country, and is becoming near-necessary elsewhere. I don't see any direct ties to global warming, but the subject could have drifted (I forget what was said in previous pages of this thread).

My opinion on what I've read:
Global Warming: Natural, intensified by human activity. Government intervention and carbon emission restrictions shouldn't conflict with Constitutional rights given to businesses.

Overpopulation: Again, government intervention shouldn't conflict with Constitutional rights. The population will always be rising and cities will always be growing. To cite my Sociology teacher: when cars were invented, people could get to work from farther away. Cities should get smaller, right? But, of course, they got bigger. If there was an invention that allowed you to teleport ANYWHERE to work, so you can live across the globe and go to work here, cities would STILL get larger. Overpopulation and metropolitan expansion cannot be stopped and there's no reason to restrict citizens' rights to attempt to do so.

I wanted to touch on abortion but really, this isn't the thread for that.
