I'd map if I got paid. Doing it for free is just a waste of time especially when I don't play multiplayer games.

Games & Programming / Google Earth mixed with Chrome?
« on: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 04:24:33 AM »
I was browsing around the other day on Google Earth and normally when I click on a picture, it opens a bubble window and if I click on that, it opens it in a browser. But now, I was surprised to see that a browser opened inside Google Earth. I wonder if it's embedded Chrome... I don't really like it since it's deathly slow and causes Google Earth to quit responding a few times before the page loads. I do have a beta version though.

Anyway, here's a pic:

Hahahahaha. Well, I'm no expert but I can't see the CPU diminishing any time soon. This article was just rather surprising, is the web really that hard to render? GPU-accelerated Flash, sure. But text and images? I guess GPU-accelerated Javascript would be nice.

I haven't decided on a price but I try to look at what similar models go for on eBay and from that I'm looking for $100-$150.

It's the stock ze2000 but it comes overclocked with 1x1GB of DDR400 RAM (spendy these days) and a faster than stock 5400RPM 30GB drive. The battery is decent, with underclocking and undervolting, I get about 97 minutes of use out of it. There are 2 issues with it though. The first is that there's a small nick in the screen (the outer layer, doesn't affect the LCD) and in the back one of the small pieces of plastic that covers the hinge was broken off but it's hardly noticeable and I've put hotglue in it :) I'll probably toss in my .11n card with it since I won't have a use for it.

Nobody? I'm wiping the hard drive right now and once I re-install XP, it will go up on Craigslist so if you're interested at all, now's the time :)

A*A could really use flashlights, laser sights, and real shotguns.

They're all in there. Just needs a bit of fine-tuning and enabling.

The Lounge / Re: VLC 1.1.0 adds GPU decoding
« on: Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 19:53:09 PM »
1080p is great and while a dual core can handle 1080p and 720p playback, it's a lot nicer to use CUDA. Not to mention there's DXVA (I think that's what it's called) but I've tried a bunch of players and codecs and nothing tops CoreAVC. They pushed a GPU to the limit and played something like 18 1080p videos before it started to stutter.
