*dramatic music*

I love Dell computers. They were like the first to introduce visual POST errors in the form of 4 LED's. I didn't realize this model has them so I looked it up and it shows this error:

Other failure.   See Chapter 7, "Getting Help," of the Reference and Troubleshooting Guide for instructions on obtaining technical assistance.

:) Well I was able to find my old Windows 98SE cd in the "useless" stack that I have. I popped it in to check it out while I would see how well the computer would boot up.

CD looks ok:

But the computer is behaving weird. It starts up, displays something like "(c) 1999 Intel Corporation..." like for the video BIOS but nothing else. It just sits there then goes "beep beep". The monitor has a blank signal. Time to investigate...

Most ways that PSU's mount, the label is pointed outward like so:

Unless it's a weird mount, you should be able to just open the side panel and peek :)

You can tell who made it by looking at the label:

By the RU there's a number. That's the UL listing number and tells who actually made it.

Well the 450-watt would be an upgrade, especially if yours isn't a Seasonic. Power supplies are a tough thing though. You can get one rated at X that's made terribly and probably only does X for .5 seconds inside a freezer or something. They tell you what they think the ratings are based upon their test results. They don't tell you how they're tested. Seasonic is one of those brands that is consistently close to or better than spec not to mention excellent build quality.

No monitor, speakers/headphones, mouse surface, motherboard or case? I bet that's pretty hard to use :)

Between the two, I would choose the Rosewill. Outside of the two, I wouldn't choose Rosewill. It seems like the Rosewill is made by ATNG and the Antec by Fortron. ATNG is "ok" but not great and off the top of my head Fortron isn't good.

I would say, save up some money, $60 isn't really much to get a quality power supply. I fail to remember what your current one is rated at... Here's my suggestions though that are close to your budget:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003 - Seasonic. Nuff said.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004 - Channel Well, not as good as Seasonic but is apparently getting better in newer models.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015 - Unknown. I'm cautious about recommending this. Their older Earthwatts were great but there's word that they're made by another company now. With that said, I use one of these newer models (EA430) in my server 24/7 and it doesn't have any leaking or bulging caps and is 100% stable. There's also a EA380 in another computer that is used every day and is reliable.

If you can save up to $80 - $100 you would be looking at better options and a better built model that would probably outlive your computer.

I've got someone that is wanting a old computer and it just so happens that I have one. A Dell Dimension l667r to be exact. That's right, Pentium 3 and Windows 98SE. This should be an interesting endeavor to make this thing work properly again. I think I'll be posting screenshots and updates :)

Consoles suck. If it were a PC, you could take the part under warranty, RMA it, get a new one back and have the opportunity to upgrade. But it's not. If the Xbox is under warranty, you probably have to ship the whole thing back which would be a pretty penny. Chances are you'll either buy a new one or go without. Either case, it's a waste.
