So about a year ago, I got this cat from a guy I knew. It's an orange cat, we got it as a kitten. It grew up in a trailer park (first mistake). Got it home and it was ok for a few months. Everybody got along. Until he started to piss on stuff. My bed has been pissed on twice, various clothing articles, bags and customer items have been pissed on as well. I've got 2 HUGE black garbage bags full of stuff I need to take to the laundromat. A couple months back we (I got the cat for my mom since she loves orange cats) decided to let it out. Things were ok for a couple weeks until it came back with it missing a golf-ball size piece of skin/muscle on it's arm. Not wanting to pay a vet bill, we cleaned and helped him heal. He is a wild cat, literally, he's probably feral. So after doing good for a while healing his arm and bandaging it every day, he decided to bust out one of the window screens and disappear for 2 days. Of course he came back wounded again. We did this for a while, he busted out 3 window screens, hurt himself getting the screen door open. Now on top of all of this, he still pisses on things inside and howls at night (and during the day). He can't go out because he fights but keeping him inside and he pees on things and crys all the god damn time. It's gotten to the point where I could literally kill him with my bare hands and I've come close. On top of the wounds, piss and whining, it's summer. The smell of piss lingers in the house and we can't open windows so it's constantly hot, stuffy and piss-smelling.
So, we put him up for adoption (can't drop him off at the humane society, found that out after an hour drive and him bloodying up his arm to get out of the cage) and there's hopefully someone coming by on the 16th.
I guess the "question" here is, if you were so frustrated with an animal, what would you do? Is killing it (with your bare hands?) totally morally unacceptable? I know I'll get a lot of shit for posting something like this with animal abuse questions but the thing is... where's the people abuse defenders? It has been nothing but hell with this animal and there's not a damn thing that I can do.
