yeah, but you don't buy a splinter cell game for multiplayer.  :-\

I'm new to the series but I can say for sure that you're right :P

This is my first time playing the Splinter Cell series and I'm quite impressed. I'm not sure about the others in the series but this one is more of a 3rd person shooter. The abilities such as looking under doors, marking enemies then taking them all out quickly, climbing walls, pulling people out of windows, climbing pipe and attacking people from above, staying in the shadows to be hidden, this game just has it all. It's all seamless and natural too. Some screenshots and explanations:

You can take people as a human shield:

Climb pipes:

Death from above:

Enemies marking your last known position:

Some Iraq action:

This game is just so enjoyable and I've probably spent just 30 minutes on it, if that. I can't wait to see what else comes.

I find this funny again. Yesterday Jay (VVaFF) PM'd me and I found out about Jonny's intentions within minutes of each other. Now, they both post here, again, within minutes of each other :P

Jonny, I said I'd do 2.8 over 2.5 mostly because of the integration that custom maps have. With Assist back, that levels the playing field (2.8 has more players but you can do more in 2.5).

Here's my thoughts:
2.5 - Complete freedom, established game and players. Little chance of profit & major success.
2.8 - Limited freedom, more players than 2.5. Little chance of profit. Minor success is possible.
Tank Game - Ton of work, no fully established team. Unique idea. Decent chance of profit. Success is unknown.

I know that Blueblaster is out, maybe sometime in the future he'll have the time to do something. Kody is eager and willing. Beta testers are plentiful. Dann will be good for ideas, I don't know what else. As for me, I definitely want to do SOMETHING. But if my abilities and time is wasted, I can go do other things to purely waste my time. I'm not looking for fame or to be rich, this isn't even my #1 passion, I just find it fun to make maps and see a few people enjoy them.

Where does this leave me? I don't know. On a related note, I've posted a message at maappack.com informing anyone that visits that the site will go down January 12th 2011. Crunk purchased the domain and since that project is and has been inactive, there's no real point in renewing it, unless it starts up again which... I guess I'll have to be quick to purchase the domain before someone else does. I've made complete backups of the site and all files related to mAAp Pack and I'll be sending DVD's to certain people.

So I've been using Windows 7 for almost a year and I just discovered a pretty nifty feature:

It shows the games you have installed as well as requirements and info for them in a simple and easy to understand way.

I think at this point (though, depending on what Jonny says) I'd rather develop for 2.8 than 2.5. But I think I would rather work on that tank game than develop for 2.8.

Yea, I think our D1's aren't SUPER good. They're all-in-ones and I don't think it does the A1 justice. By vibrates, do you mean your case wobbles? I have some foam tape I stuck under a foot and it's level and solid now. The A1 is a really nice dedicated amp, I really hope Ryan does as good with a dedicated DAC. I also hope that the newer D1's don't have as much noise and weirdness.

So the other day I went into Moscow to get some errands done. One of these was to close my Chase checking account that I hadn't used in months since I moved to US Bank that has a location much closer to where I live. Ever since Chase bought out Washington Mutual, it's been nothing but bullshit. My points:

  • The old WaMu website was easy to navigate and had plenty of info about your accounts. The new Chase website sucks and is very basic.
  • WaMu had an excellent rewards system that gave you straight up money every so often based upon what you had spent. Chase gives you a points system that who knows how it works. They recently revised the points so most people now have 1/5 the points they had while reward item points price stays the same. On top of that, I've tried a couple dozen times to get on the points site and redeem them but my Mastercard wasn't recognized on the VISA subdomain for Chase rewards.
  • Back when it was WaMu, the workers at the bank pretty much stayed the same. They were friendly and you could know them by name and you felt like they actually cared. Now with Chase, there seems to be a new group of employees every month or so and all of them give you fake appreciation. None of them actually give a crap, they just appear to care so you give them your money.
  • I went in to close my account and while there was about 6 employees standing around (2 at the counter, 1 manager at his desk, 1 at another desk with a customer, and 2 in the back on a computer chatting about something), with 1 customer that left moments after I arrived, the person behind the counter told me to wait. I stood there while all the employees kept on going, seemingly unaware that I was there. I can understand if they're working on something but shouldn't customers be their first priority? So maybe they have to stay 5 minutes late because they helped a loyal customer.
  • Flat-out lying and disregard. This is how the manager(?) treated me. I told her I wanted to close my account, she asked why and then pretended to care about the reasons I gave her. I didn't bother to go into anything I listed above since it's not her fault and it's not like she'd care anyway. So after a few "uh-huh" and "oh sure" on her part, she began to tell me that I had a "WaMu grandfather" account and that this type of account isn't available anymore. She said it's free everything and that they don't offer several of the features on the account anymore. Since the account meant nothing to me, I told her to go ahead and close it. Mere moments later, she then said that their checking accounts (which is what I was closing) haven't changed at all, this contradicts what she just said about a lot of the services and offers not being available any more.
  • My account was closed, she could obviously see that it's my last account that I had open and that I had both checks and a ATM card on it. I was fully expecting her to at least OFFER to destroy my ATM card and/or checks for security purposes. Not that I would have allowed it since I try to recycle PVC than put it in the landfill, but it's the principal and the carelessness that they show towards their customers. She just said bye. I'm glad I never have to go in there again.

In case anyone locally sees this post, the bank I'm talking about is located at:
1790 W Pullman Rd
Moscow,  ID  83843

I wish I could supply names of various incompetent workers but like I said, employees come and go from that place so quick that it would be hard to pick them out in a lineup.

I am simple just voicing my opinion.
That's exactly what I want.

there's a lot of people that won't create a single thing unless they're paid.
Like me?

Unfortunately (maybe) the tank game project, is already started. We'd be joining a developing group rather than starting something. I don't want to step on any toes and I don't want to demand things on something that's not mine. Also, Jay knows nothing about you guys except for Blueblaster.

I would really like to hear from Jonny before finalizing any one thing.

I've been there for a long time, supporting you all and trying to get us all hyped up once again. Shit never worked, apparently. I learned better.
I now need slightly more time to get a run on this and contribute. Give it time and you'll have me in the team.

Dann, you must have great instinct or something. You were right to question my motivation and how long this "gotta do something" spree would last. My goal with the mAAp on 2.8.5 thread was that, as I've said before, I've enjoyed working on mAAp with you guys. I wanted to start that up again. But, I don't know that I want to continue on 2.8.5. Today, 2 other project opportunities revealed themselves. One came in a PM on YouTube (which had very odd timing) and the other came about unknown to a lot of people 10 days ago. I wanted to talk to Blue and Jonny before spreading this around but I honestly can't think of a legitimate reason why I can't share this with you all. The opportunities are:

        - I've been, for lack of a better term, invited to work on a new UE3 project. The person that invited me used to be known as VVaFFenPanZZeR but now goes by his name, Jay. Back in the day, he worked with Blueblaster and iZi at AA-Maps.net on AA v2.6. There he created his map "Bridge Crossing NE". When 2.8 and it's editor came out, he busted ass converting it so people could play it legitimately: http://www.aamissiondepot.com/missions/bridge_crossing_northeast Like most of our work for 2.5, his efforts, while appreciated by some, were largely unappreciated. He's since moved onto UE3 and is starting his own game. Basically it's a tank simulator, kind of like BF2 without the cars and being on-foot. You drive around with a tank, complete objectives and have air & artillery support. He's said this to me:
Quote
We need a team- I need a team- I know I can't do everything myself- I know how much time you have spent for the same reasons I did with AA- now its time to project all that on a possible cash cow
This is a bit of his game:

        - Our old buddy America's Army 2.5. Just to refresh minds, the biggest reason I'm not doing anything for 2.5 is not because of the community. It's because of a lack of a distribution method. On August 22nd this changed. Jonny has announced that he'll bring back Assist. (Jonny, I figured since you posted on the official AA forum, that you wouldn't mind me posting it here.) The evidence is pretty solid:

Jonny's Announcement:

Recent Activity: (such as updating his source TODAY)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/aa25assist/

Also, with 2.5 and Jonny, keep in mind the possibility of this sometime down the road:
http://hsc.natescomp.com/index.php?topic=83.0

Why am I bringing this up? Again, I'd like to do something. I realize Dann and Blue don't seem to be enthusiastic about it for whatever reason but, still, it was fun working with you guys. On one hand, I like the idea of a brand new game with the possibility of revenue. On the other hand, 2.5 is very familiar and combining our skills with a program like Jonny's, it really can't be beat. What to do?
