Yea, this is also good for using someone else's computer without leaving a trace or anything.

Since I use Chrome on my desktop and laptop, I have my bookmarks and whatnots sync'd to my Google account. This means when I boot up into Chrome OS, it's there too. I probably won't use it a whole lot except for when I wanna look up something on the net REALLY quick. I think that's about all it's good for. Fast way to boot with minimal hardware requirements. It's definitely worth installing on a spare 2GB flash drive. You'll be getting 20-30mb/s speeds for loading so keep that in mind.

I'll probably make a video of me booting it on my laptop sometime.

This post will show you how to run Google Chrome OS.

First, you need the IMG so go get it from:
http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/

You will get a .tar.gz so use a program like 7Zip to decompress it (there's another archive inside). It will decompress to about 1.6GB or so.

Follow the instructions here to flash the image to a 2GB or larger USB drive:
http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/wiki/doku.php?id=windows_instructions

Reboot from that flash drive.

You'll need to login once you see the start screen. This is usually your Google account but if you have passworded WiFi, you will need to set that up before you can login so in that case the default username and password is facepunch

Here's a video I uploaded booting Windows 7 and ChromeOS on my laptop:

It's amusing that you think you like technology like that but really know little about it. You just buy it because you have the money to.

I think so too. Either caused by having a RAID array or using TrueCrypt, either way, there was no warning that it didn't work with either. If Ubunbu was popular, they'd have people pointing these issues out.

I wasn't one upping any one :P I don't really care I don't use and wouldn't use more than 2 monitors any ways. It would be nice but it would be wasted power and money.

Don't have it so you hate it. I see what you did there.

I came to my senses and thought that I should give Ubuntu an honest try. I got the Windows Installer version that installs inside Windows but lets you boot it as a standalone OS. I tried. The program that installs kept spitting errors about some python script complaining about no disk and then after I got through all the steps it says to restart, I do and I get this:

I do have a spare 80GB drive that I could install on but it's really not worth the hassle when I know it won't replace Windows.

(on the topic of logitech) I had a logitech headset once, what a piece of crap.

They don't make great audio systems. For some reason their mice and keyboards are pretty nice though.

Funny you bring this thread up. I've been actively looking at mice. I really like the Logitech Performance Mouse MX but while it's a great mouse and feels good, it doesn't have much DPI control. Having really gotten into Bad Company 2, I find myself constantly adjusting DPI using a range from 400 to 2000. Because of that, my interest has turned towards the Razer Mamba. I should probably make a new thread for this but I don't imagine discussion will go far. If it does, I'll split it.
