I noticed that you guys join the USA server when the first EU server is full. I didn't understand why since there is a 2nd EU server for BCD. My ping is 100+ on the USA server, and it's no fun to play with lag.

Nightguard explained to me that you guys join the USA server to support the USA players. But really, when I'm up late ( around 2-3AM CEST ), there still is almost no activity in this game.

I also see the USA players join the EU BCD server, simply because it has more players.

Another note might be that are small updates that can be done (and sometimes are) without requiring a version update. When all of a sudden you get a new file being downloaded without a Assist update, this is what it is.
Those are, in their own way, an update/fix as well. Although they might also be something fun like Christmas maps or whatever.
However, most things can't be updated this way and even this causes file mismatched between client and server so minimizing the times it happens seems like a good idea.

Maybe post release-notes on the FrontPage with those updates?

Talking from experience, the users would throw a shit fit. Back when ELiZ first ported the SAI, there was a problem that only happened under certain conditions and it caused the game to crash. Over the course of a few days, many updates were put out to try and find the direction of the update. Users went berzerk, complaining about the amount of updates. They didn't really care that ELiZ was trying to fix a serious problem that caused the game to crash. Another problem was a lack of beta testers but we finally got enough people together to fix it.

Plus, as ELiZ was eluding to, each time there's an update, the game server usually lags behind the client for updates. This means that you open Assist, it updates but then half or more of the servers in the list are outdated and you can't join them. When the servers do finally update, they restart which kicks players out. ELiZ tries to do updates at a time with low player count but there's always somebody that gets hit.

Maybe it's a good idea to patch more often, but with smaller patches. I know it's nice to release a patch that fixes or adds a lot of things, but frequent updates show that the game is still improving. Also, it might improve the players satisfaction and encourage them to come up with suggestions to improve the game or to report more bugs.

At work, I work on a few projects. And I notice that the frequency of responses to feedback encourages the employees to keep on giving feedback and continue to support the project.

What does the rest think about this? And what do the DEV's think?

I've seen this happening before, i think. Probably the game needs more advertising, there are still tough steps for new players to come across their first hours of gameplay.

I must admit, I've been bugged a couple of times with the small size of the MOTD myself, but didn't bother with it since it was only me.....
I can change the MOTD font(I think I change a couple of other ones as well, as F10 to cancel with a map change)..

I'm running game in 1920x1080, the rule for console font change is if height>800, and I'll be using the same rule with MOTD.

I haven't seen 100+ players in weeks. Maybe it's best not to show that there are only a few people playing on the FrontPage. Maybe only show it to registered members, but don't show it to random visitors. They will think that the game is dead. Just an idea.

Big Clan Day / SF Oasis Practice for BCD, this friday at 19h30 CEST!

Next sunday, SF Oasis will be one of the maps that get's played on BCD. Sadly it's almost impossible to practice the map with other  players on it. It's a map that never gets played. That's why on Friday, we will rename our server from "--- Join and play another map soldier! --- Mapvoting" to "Join and play another map soldier! --- BCD Training". The server will contain advertisements ( scrolling ) for Big Clan Day on Sunday. The map will stay on SF Oasis for at least 60 minutes. After that, players can ask for a mapswitch BUT it can not be a map that can be played every day. Offcourse I'll be there. Only 1/7 rounds will get forceclass and teams will get swapped after every match. So that you really get the chance to learn the map.

All players are more then welcome on our Teamspeak-server: ts.pamclan.com ( no port or password required )

I'm hoping that this announcement increased the amount of players on Friday. And if this succeeds, we will try to do this more often.

PS: Can someone send me the script to swap teams please?
