Guess I should update this I received the 2nd surround kit and the first woofer dried and I tested it. It rubbed just like the first time. I just gave up and went to bed early. Next day I tried the other woofer and it was perfect. I was newly inspired so I decided with nothing to lose on the failed woofer, I peeled the surround off the metal basket (pretty easy, the glue didn't have a death-grip on the sanded metal) and re-glued it making sure everything is aligned. It still rubs now but only at 1 oclock on my amp (normal listening is 10-11 oclock) so I think it's safe as long as I don't over-drive it. Both are back on my desk making all kinds of lovely sounds. I'm currently saving up to re-do the crossover circuit. I will post pics when I do that as well.

I must admit, that's pretty cool. Creative little project.

Well that doesn't surprise me. Wii doesn't have demanding graphics. Still cool though, I might check it out to see what games there are.

I don't believe Photoshop took a role in that site. I think it was built on pure noob skills.

I decided to buy a new surround kit (wasted $25) that comes with shims and new dust caps. Should arrive in the next couple of days. I picked up some Watco Danish Oil today and went to work rubbing the cabinets with fine steel wool and applying a few coats of the oil. Here's what they look like:


Full of life now! I may apply a few more coats but it looks great as-is.
