server needs to run maap, atleast pipeline. cos nate made the pressure vessels on it look silly but I've never told him.

I never made those, I just imported them into the game. Got a problem with them, talk to Delta. He made and textured those. They have vastly less polygons than the original ones.

Anyway, on topic:
I might be able to host a small server now that I have upgraded internet. At least a test one before money is sunk into servers. What's wrong with playeradmins Jonny?

You guys know what's creepy? I have a file on Dropbox that I wrote up some ideas for "AA Classic". Out of curiosity I went and looked at the date I made it. 2 years ago to the day. Some ideas are lame but there might be something decent:

I was just thinking about maps,  would be a good idea.

Have you seen/heard of mAAp?

I know this is a bit off-topic since you guys are talking about Assist and auth servers and whatnot but I wouldn't be completely against doing mAAp work if there was an audience for it.

The thing about used parts is the lack of a warranty. My GPU has broken twice already. I can't afford to replace parts on my minimum wage job. :P

True, that's always nice. But there are lemons out there. I've had my GPU 2 years without a problem. I guess I'm mixed on that aspect. New warrantied parts are nice for my main computer but the server can have older, slower, used parts. Mostly because that's what I can afford and that's all it needs.

Yes, I still have that dual core. :P I have 4gb of ram though. There is a small chance that I will be upgrading my PC after Christmas though. We'll see how much I end up spending on presents for everyone.
:) My point is though, that you can search for used parts. For $98, my server will be easily upgradeable, 1 part at a time. The whole house is on AM3 now so 1 upgrade means 3 computers can get upgraded :)

How much do these run you over there?

I'm not against buying them for you and shipping them if it's cheaper...

*EDIT*
By the way Killaman, I pretty much bought your computer for $98 (if you still have that dual-core...) I got an AM3 setup with 2GB of DDR3 and a 6-core supporting motherboard for that :P

You wouldn't be playing it on low though. You'd actually be playing on high or almost maxed out. Hardly the same thing as low. :P

I can't play BC2 near full settings. I heard others with my GPU couldn't get above 30. Doesn't sound like a good time to me. I also fail the recommended requirements due to my GPU.

I don't have BF3. I would have bought it but I don't feel like playing it on low settings.

One reason I don't have it yet.

@Nate i know what you are going to say... i am buying the other 4GB of ram tomorrow dude :) and after that i will let you know...

Dump that Super Talent 1333MHz and get a 2x4GB kit of 1600MHz and tweak it!

Yea, it seems more of a portrait. The second one is just boring and I don't approve of smoking so... yea.

Yea, I'm not sure what teraflop is. Just one of those things I haven't needed to be concerned about. Could look it up on Wiki and compare my CPU but I doubt I'll gain any useful information.
