General Chat / Re: America's Army 2 Remake - Army Ops in development

ooo so good luck iam not happy right now from ur last post sorry
have a good day rip aa2 forever
I'm not sure what you're getting at exactly.

He is a man doing a job. His job is to make a game. In order for this scheme to work the game needs to make money. One has no legal right to use other people's work (including - but not limited to - graphics, sounds and map design) for their own monetary gain. There can be exceptions to this (e.g when the same people make a sequel or the rights are bought), but I'm fairly certain the US Army is not interested in selling (nor giving away) the stuff they've paid to be made.

What KAEPS is doing is developing a new game. He's getting inspiration (and not actual details) from AA2 (and other sources, of course). He might even have some maps that are similar to what we had in AA. But he cannot just copy a map and use it in his own game.

Think of it this way, if Picasso made a painting and signed it. It sold for a million dollars. Then you come along and copy the painting exactly, except you put your own signature under it. This would be called forgery and is obviously illegal. It's a similar situation here.

Furthermore, as has been discussed on this topic before, the game cannot be exactly like AA2 was because that's not what people expect from a modern game. Just because you and a few dozen other people might want to get AA2 in a new "skin" or something like that, doesn't mean it's actually commercially viable. Let's face it, the current AA2 community is the vast minority of (FPS) gamers out there and you don't get far selling a new game to such a small amount of people.

Copy the "settings.dat" file from where 25Assist is installed over to your new PC and try again.

If you don't know where 25Assist is installed, refer to the first item on our FAQ.

That's cool! :)
Too bad I couldn't make it that time - I'll try and be on the next time around if I'm actually at home.

That's what I meant, you need to use the 32bit libararies. The OS can be 64bit.

That's cool :)

Saw it on FB as well and applied as well.
If I'm suitable, I hope I can actually make time for it.

You need to use 32bit for AA and Assist.

Unfortunately there is no way to retrieve your password right now since we don't control battletracker.
We do have plans on a new registration and account management system and it's being worked on, but it's hard to tell when this will be ready.

We're sorry  for the inconvenience.

You're saying you're able to successfully connect to any empty server?
Have you tried staying on for a few minutes to make sure you'd not get kicked?

It could help if you could grab a screenshot of the exact error you're seeing.

Make sure to run Assist as Administrator on Windows and if the problem persists, you can try Rest+Repair AA on the Install tab on Assist.

I do believe there's quite a few people here who at least have played AAPG. Not sure about the current situation.

How does it stop? Does it give an error or does it just not move forward?
Are you running 25Assist as Administrator?

Homey (BT Admin) is not interested in maintaining the site nor for someone else to maintain it for him. It has been asked.

There was a bit of communication between us and Homey which is why some AA-related features are still working. Killaman and Possessed are working on the details needed for the game to survive without Battletracker. When this will be ready, is hard to tell at this point in time.

Servers already crashed because of the action described above. If there's no security issue how someone was able to crash them just like that at the first place? I get it that you need to have privileges, you need to pay to get access to server files, and every action executed with privileges will leave a mark, so it all will be easily sorted out, but it doesn't remove the fact that crashing is still possible.

So as long as it's possible, I find it as an issue and if it's not a security issue then what is it?
If you give your computer's password to a friend and he comes in and formats your drive, it's not a security issue to do with your OS (be it Windows, Mac OS or Linux).

EDIT: Whoops, it's locked

I'm aware of the transaction. Since the site's automatic treasury is not working, I'm waiting for Nick's confirmation on having received the donation.
