I think it's a problem of changing the VIP class. If I recall right, we ran into this many times on 2.3 as well.

Well, actually, now that ELiZ is here, he might convert some 2.8 maps pretty easy.

=\ My money says that people will bitch that they can't join from the in-game server list.

To decrease loading times, you could also see if removing the music helps or perhaps making the splash image smaller. The loading music is like 3MB and could be totally removed IMO.

VendorX is working on this. He just supplied me with the first test mod but it crashed the server. Probably won't be long before there's a working version.

I think I got all that I need to convert packages from 2.8.5 to 2.5.0.
Now I only have to dig up old memories from 6-7 years ago about the pitfalls and I know there are some not so obvious.

One could write a book (perhaps volumes) on the pitfalls and quirks of Unreal :D

Thank you for coming and posting soupcakes. For me personally, it's actions like yours that keep me interested in maps for 2.5. Your gratitude is plenty motivation :)

Great proof, can't fake that video :) I'm sure you'll have it back no problem.

I sent you a PM ELiZ. We do use the 2.4.1 editor to create/edit maps for AA 2.5.

5214
Some textures and meshes aren't in 2.5 that do exist in 2.8. It would be good to put those in 2.5 packages in case they're used by multiple maps, this would cut down file size rather than using mylevel. Just an idea though. If there's a 2.8 map you like, I would say go for it rather than guessing one the 2.5 community would like.

5215
Truth be told, I don't really know 2.8 maps that well. We converted Rummage by hand and Koden is working on Interdiction. I think someone wanted OldTown but I don't know how the community feels about that as a whole. No point in converting if nobody will play it :)

lol. Why are you using the Euro sign? Is Spanky a secret European?
Yesh.

Also, I got the VE228H. I'm loving it so far. So much better than my old Samsung SyncMaster. They had a 23" ASUS LED on sale for $160 but it was sold out by the time I found out.
I'll be sure to get the VH238H to +1 you :D

WELCOME! I posted a comment on one of your YouTube videos and I suspect VendorX has been trying to get in contact with you as well. Anything would be appreciated and if you wanted to even create stuff for 2.5, we would certainly welcome it.

Converting 2.8 maps is a pain in the ass :D

Old quality CRT still rocks. The fact about budget IPS panels, they usually offer a nice colour fidelity and very good contrast values. I wouldn't spend 140/150 € on a TN panel while i might spend 180 on a ips one (after reading at least a couple reviews).

I agree with your point after converting dollar values but a decent LED TN panel (one I've been eyeballing) is under 115€. For 180€ you can afford an IPS. I would personally take that difference and put it into a more powerful GPU :)

Still, low end IPS models are close to double the cost of a decent TN panel but I don't think they offer double the image quality and you can't get an LED IPS anywhere near 180€. LED is a must for me, I'm tired of seeing CCFL bulbs die or streak.

*EDIT*
Here comes Killaman sneaking some logic in before my post.

It's easy to find cheap used quality CRT's but I wouldn't buy/use one. I personally prefer the less size, weight, and power consumption of an LCD, even if it's a TN panel. I had a Dell IPS panel monitor and aside from normal color saturation/brightness variances between manufacturers, I noticed no real improvement over my TN panel. In fact, I liked it less due to the screen damage and high response time.
