« on: Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 13:09:18 PM »Nothing much can be done if you talking about improving graphics since the engine is used a bit out of date ^^That's an understatement.
It would be possible to update all the maps with HD textures and better meshes (if we found someone to make them for us) but the game would be unplayable due to engine limitations. The engine has enough trouble as it is with Petrol and that's all stuff that came with AA 2.5. The fact is that the engine is too old to be able to handle better graphics. In a modern world of quad and hexa core CPUs, the version of UE2 that AA2.5 runs on uses only one CPU core, that's how old it is.
Look at Shantytown. I can't even play it with an i7 4770K and Radeon HD 7950 without dipping into the 20's for FPS.

Spying is oviously there, your PC desktop is snapshotted.I don't think it's technically spying since the user knows it's happening, but that doesn't make it right. I agree with you. I'm going to try to get it removed, but it's not really up to me.

Hell, I didn't even know it was happening. I didn't blame people for their concern then and I don't blame people for their concern now. However, it's clearly stated that this happens in our ToU now.

That's to much going into privacy, maybe there is another way around with this anti cheat? Even games like COD or battlefield or other game doesn't have this.That's actually a very good point. I'm not exactly defending this, just stating that the ToU clearly states that this occurs.
Of course you are 100% right. And then you have issues like:I can't answer this as I don't deal with any of that stuff.
- "where are SS stored?"
- "for how long?"
- "who can access it?"
- "how it is protected?"

That's a fairly standard deal for websites. The only money we get is from donations and that is just used to pay server costs.
Ofcourse your bank account is not robbed lol (yet... kidding lol)
It's not about that, it's about they are breaching the law of distributing a game they are not allowed to do and earning money from it through vortexservers.
The next point is that they can spy on you anytime when you have Assist running WITHOUT you knowing it.
I am going to say it again:"I really appreciate the work they do to keep AA alive but i do not appreciate to be spied on and i am sure alot of people stand beside me on this point after the hassle with johnny.
Also, vortex servers DOES NOT host Assist, just the AAO25 website. Assist and AAO25 are hosted by different people in different parts of the world. You're trying to act clever but you have no idea what you're talking about.
Also, epicGoat isn't even banned...

The majority was against the decision and only a handful approved it. Looks like an awful lot of bridge players voted on this... And Bollie with 16 accountsThat's a valid point. Perhaps those that played mostly Hospital liked the 203s. However, we don't make votes just for people that play certain maps. Maybe more people that didn't like hospital before because of the 203 will now start playing it? I don't know. Look, we simply just did what the majority wanted. Your anger is a bit misguided. Are you really going to get mad at us for simply acting on a vote? The vote wasn't even close either...

Your attempt also fails because I already said I don't like the change. Also, just because nobody has told you that they didn't like the 203 doesn't mean nobody told us. After all, EliZ has the power to change the game, not you, so why would they tell you instead of us?

However, we've had a ton of people ask for this, so we made a vote and it won. Nobody has come to us saying they want pistols only. Not a single person. We don't create votes just for the hell of it, it has to be clear that a lot of people want the change.
I repeated it many times: voting and "democracy" are most often not the good way to judge things.
Like I said, I don't like removing weapons from an original map either, but I respect what the community wants.

We do not have access to the source code, thus cannot change the actual game. The only thing questionable is redistribution, which could easily be solved if the creators of AA2 wanted to stop us. Again, they know about Assist.
- TOS does not stand above the law to get spied on, something Assist is doing.
- The next one is that the creators of Assist are using an illegal copy of Americas Army which is also not allowed by the law.
I'd also like that some programs such as web browsers keep much more intrusive and private data than a PC screenshot.

I remember johnny stepped back because a few others were taking steps to take him to court because of his spying activities.
If you don't like the fact that Assist can take screenshots, then don't use it. That's why the ToU is there, to let you know.

Basically, the problem is not Windows or Linux as you say; the problem only comes from F12 when the admins choose the PBall card that is bugging.
Exactly, my friend, it's with Linux that it crashes. I tested with my 12 Linux servers by pressing F12 for the PBall map and all my servers crash. That's why Nick built me a PBall server to avoid having to go through F12.

I am On Linux and It does not crash when shooting the crates :). But the reason Its not crashing I think its because how I run the game through a compatability mode for windows programs. So technically Its "running through windows" :) As you say, It probably is going to crash on the Native Linux Version of the Game
falken64, it's the opposite, it doesn't crash with Windows. I am the owner of the PBall server. It only crashes when we go through F12, it always crashes when we shoot the crates. :)
It might be a windows system that wouldnẗ crash it. I am currently on Linux but to run this game I am using Steam and Adding the game as a Non-Steam Game and switching from the default compatibility setting to Proton 9.0-x and it works flawlessly. It doesn't crash when playing on the Pball map because technically I Would be playing this on Windows even tho Im on Linux. Maybe if it would crash when playing this on the Native Linux version that doesn't work on newer Linux distro's? Or does this only relate to the servers crashing?

Gunny PBall does not work on Linux only on windows, Nick created my PBall server with windows a long time ago.

You cannot choose the PBall map with F12 as it always crashes the server due to a bug, but on my PBall server you don’t have to go through F12, if you’re interested lol.

PBall only works on a Linux (I think) server. If it isn’t a Linux (I think) server, it will crash as soon as someone shoots one of the movable boxes or barrels. This is why I don’t switch to PBall when I do a rotation, even though I love PBall. Please correct me if it’s a Linux or Windows server that’s needed for PBall, I always get them mixed up. lol.
