General Chat / Re: AAO2 SIte?
« on: Tuesday, March 20, 2012, 15:51:44 PM »
I'm not attacking you, I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm just simply looking at the facts. Not long ago, you spammed the AAO2.com domain on several websites. It seemed like it was going to be the next big thing for AA. But nothing happened, the site still sits with no new content. Not even forums. That's why I'm saying that I don't know what the point of the site is. That's why we made this site, information and forums to bring the community together and help each other out.

You really dont know what i already did for aao, I was linked by SK-Gaming,Fnatic on main site.
Sponsored by ZOWIE and fshost.
You're right, I don't know what any of that is.

Jonny is a really great guy, you can be happy that you have a chef like him.
If you are my website holder, and i will see that a guy like you attacks some other persons who did already much too. I would kick you out. Without some reward.
Now this is where you're assuming things. Jonny isn't our "chief", nobody is our "chief". We all work together building content for 2.5. Without doubt, Jonny has done the most, none of this would be here without him. A while back when Assist was first starting, he wanted forums and didn't want to hassle setting one up and managing them. I gave him a sub-board on my personal forum that I paid for and managed. As Assist and 2.5 grew more and more, I expanded the site to fit the content and now the site has become dedicated to 2.5 entirely. I don't get paid to host this site. Jared and me don't get paid to code this site. I paid for this site out of my own pocket because I enjoy coding and enjoy having a forum where people aren't censored by overbearing admins. I wouldn't even consider myself an AA player anymore. I might have played a half hour in the last month, mostly for testing.

*EDIT*
Jared spoke the truth.

Please, share some information about your ideas and goals for the website. You're right, I know nothing about the logo and project. I don't know anything about it's purpose because there's nothing on your website.

As far as talking about your logo, it has no relation to AA. You're creating a logo for something that already had a logo. None of the site makes sense to me.

*EDIT*
you know nothing about some competive scene in AAO.
You're right. I couldn't care less about the "competitive scene" in AA because I play games for fun :)

Go to the info page and check out the dedicated server readme's. If you have access to the game server via FTP, you should be able to run 2.5 through Assist.

General Chat / Re: Bringing back 2.8.5
« on: Tuesday, March 20, 2012, 14:32:11 PM »
Even if it was possible, it would divide the growing community again and that wouldn't do any good for anyone. Better have one working cross-platform so we can have more players and better community.
This is the conversation ender.

if u bring 2.8 plz make it for MAC too:)
Impossible, unless you get the entire sources from the devs and hire someone to port the game, even then it would be buggy just like 2.5's ports are.

Another thing to think about, while we can have custom maps in 2.8, we can't import anything. 2.5 has the potential for all-new content in maps. We can import textures, models and anything else into the game.

*EDIT*
I would be happy if someone did it, relieve me of the burden of running this system.
No it wouldn't, it would just mean that people would play 2.8.5. There would still be die-hard 2.5 players that you've converted due to your awesome system. Also, what's the burden of it running now? I'm sure the donations you have now more than cover the datacenter cost. You haven't updated in a while so the system is just running. It shouldn't be a burden now...

Well, really, what's the point? It's great that he has desire to help the "AA2" community but it seems like he's more for 2.8.5. That's fine but that version really has no future. That site was advertised all over but really doesn't do anything. It doesn't even have a forum and all the pages are locked. I was kind of expecting to see some kind of improvements but there hasn't been anything.

So I was wondering if there was actually a way to also bring back 2.8.5 using the same method as what was done here

Sure. All you gotta do is learn a cross-platform code that allows you to build a GUI and manage files. Then build a backend server and pay to have it hosted in a data center. After that, it's easy.

Oh, and you'll need to learn UScript or LUA/C++.

I have no idea. It doesn't seem like it serves a purpose. Who wants a sweatshirt with a hacked up AA logo?

I added the link to your server's screenshots to the info page. Thanks!

Also, glad you were able to login with the account I made for you. The spam blocking mod must have flagged your e-mail, not your IP.

Honor Claims / Re: Honor Claims from mortiferus.Esta!^.

Good enough. I'll give you 100 because I don't think we're established yet on how many points it takes to go above 100 per honor point.

I want it to go on record that I wholeheartedly disagree with the decision to unban this player, But the people have spoke in a free and fair Democratic election so my hands are tied.

Truth be told, that's why I made the post:
http://aao25.com/general-chat/unban-request/msg17639/#msg17639
You didn't reply to the thread so I figured you were fine with it. It's your decision really. It's not a majority unban vote, it's mostly tied 50/50.

I just tested 1024x768 in Chrome and while there's scrollbars, everything is still visible. We have done some changes to styling and alignment, maybe try Shift+F5 or CTRL+F5. Why are you on such a low resolution though?

Odd, Jared uses Firefox. What's your resolution?
