Feedback & Suggestions / Reduce or remove the sound effects on AA3 Bridge
« on: Sunday, May 03, 2015, 07:57:15 AM »
I've tried more then once for players to try AA3 bridge, and when I do, none of them want to stay because of the ennoying noises. I don't know if the noises are identical to AA3, but eaven if they are, they ennoy players.

At the moment, nobody wants to play this map, and I kind of want to know how it plays. But as long as it so ennoying, you might aswell remove the map from the game because nobody will play it.

and then, everyone with a tablet will try to run a server on it.
will be nice to sort them out not running there - to have the good performance ones to play on.

still I don't know why you are trying this to do - what's the point about that?

and as a hint - running your tablet with more then 10 players on it for more then 10 hours - goodbye tablet - not made for running hot around all the day. but it's a try to see how long it will work :)

good luck

btw: the most expensive server out there - for this you got a medal for sure :D

The server had 12 players on it today, it was about 7% CPU usage and using 3 watts, not exactly running hot :D Don't forget that this is a game that is more then 10 years old. It's really not that CPU intensive to run an AA server. My current tablet CPU is probably as fast as the desktop CPU's form those days.

And why? It's just an experiment :)

Don't set the priority to very low, it will mean EVERYTHING else on the computer will take priority. Set the AA server process to above normal.

As far as modifying services, check out BlackViper, he's got good registry tweaks. Then you can also run CCleaner and uninstall the factory bloatware and startup items.

Thanks for the tip. There is no bloatware on the talbet. Probably because it's sold via the Microsoft store. It's 100% clean.

So I got my tablet today.
The first run was not so good. Huge lag spikes.
I had the cachemegsize set to big but the tablet only had 1GB RAM so that could be the cause.

Then I disabled about 10-15 windows services like windows defender, windows indexing, etc... and set the cachemegsize to 250MB. I also changed the service-priority to "very low" in the windows task manager.

The 2nd run went much better. We played with 4 players on it. Pings were fine and no lag.

Now, the most suprising fact is, this tablet consumes about 2-4watts with the AA server running. I think that might be the most power efficient AA server there is :)

Tomorrow:
- I'm going to search for a way to keep the server running with the tablet screen turned off ( to reduce power consumption eaven more ) I will probably have to disable connected standby to enable all power options ( like you have on laptops ).
- I'm going to continue disabling windows services to reduce RAM usesage by services I don't need.

The server name tomorrow will be "Hosted on a tablet! - Mapvote"
You will be able to find it very fast if you order the serverlist by countryflag.
The server is located in Belgium.

Please test it and share your experience :) Thanks Vanoke and SWISS clan for testing last night.

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Longer Decal stay and more bullet cases?
« on: Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 17:56:37 PM »
Seriously...i've already seen silly people banning for these kind of things in AAPG and even suggesting to do so to other people, as if disabling decals was going to give you an advantage.

I know that in the old version, disabling projecters could give you a very good advantage on maps like SF Village. All the explosion spots dissapeard, and enemy were caming there, thinking they were in a black zone, while they werent with projectors disabled.

But disabling or increasing decals, I don't see how that gives any advantage.

AA3 Maps / Re: Always the same stupid maps!
« on: Sunday, April 26, 2015, 16:46:26 PM »
It's just about joining and waiting a few minutes and since the server used are between 2 and 4, the few people even in another server will highlight and people will join if they like.

So next time I play join me in the map we will grow... Vote!

I do what you suggest every day, or I try to at least. You'll have to wait more then a couple of minutes, beleave me. Not only that, you can't play how you would like. You have to rush so that you die more. Because if you win to much, the few players that join, will leave. Once you have more then 6 players, you can start playing your own style more. I'm hoping you succeed man, I'll join ya if it's a good EU server ;)

Feedback & Suggestions / Longer Decal stay and more bullet cases?
« on: Sunday, April 26, 2015, 13:01:46 PM »
Is there a way that you guys can increase the amount of decalls and bullet cases for the players that have a PC that can handle them? It would be cool to walk round the map, seeing bullet cases everywhere.

We'll see how laggy it will be once I do some optimizing on it.

So mango01, can you explain why you start this topic and only play SF Hospital?  :hihih:
At this moment there are 9 different maps with players on it. So why don't ya play then?

Server Support / Hosting an AA server on a Windows 8.1 tablet
« on: Saturday, April 25, 2015, 18:41:04 PM »
I just placed an order for this device:

HP Stream 7 Tablet
Windows 8.1 32bit
Intel® Atom® Z3735G with Intel HD Graphics (1.8 GHz, 2 MB cache, 4 cores)
1 GB DDR3L SDRAM
32GB SSD ( 130MB/s read, 70MB/s write )
7" diagonal HD WVA IPS multitouch-enabled (1280 x 800)

It was now on sale for only 79 euro's ( office 365 + cover for the tablet included ).

I hope it can run the AA server smooth. It would be cool to have it run an AA server and to use it as a picture frame. I'm going to use it that way because the tablet goes in to sleep mode when the screen isn't displaying anything. And to run the server, the screen has to stay on.

I will let you guys know how it plays out.

Big Clan Day / Re: I'm considering to stop the Americanse BCD Server.
« on: Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 16:24:38 PM »
and i would like to have another (second) bcd server from europe. maybe one of the assist servers, because sometimes i have more lag on europe bcd server then on the american one. then players from europe/america (which want to play in the afternoon) can play on the server with the better response time. and i guess both server would be full with players then.

my 2 cents.

There already is a 2nd server for BCD.
