mAAp Project / v7.2 Update
« on: Tuesday, May 08, 2012, 21:01:41 PM »
I've talked with Pit and he seems able to do a mAAp update. A few of the maps really need it but I'm mostly wondering where Blue, Koden and Killaman are with the maps (if any) they're working on. I'm kinda done doing work for AA, at least for now but there's quite a few things I've done for v7.2 already. So where are we at for an update?

Woah , why's everyone so obsessed with the AC? Why would I tell assist admins about it? Do I need their permissions to use it or wth?

Yea, you kinda do need permission as well as help because without Pit-23 or Jonny implementing it, you won't see it mandatory on all clients. Plus, you're the one that mentioned it, if you didn't want a conversation about it, why did you mention it?

marten, I got your PM and sent a reply off.

The AC is client based only

So how do you expect to get your super fantastic anti-cheat mandatory on all clients when you won't tell the Assist admins what it does, even in a PM? I think you're blowing smoke.

One can't simply steal UE3. One can only download it for free: http://udk.com/

No problem. Don't bother with Skrewy, he doesn't have the editor, this is one of the many reasons why I never gave it to him.

*edit*
Damn, again Killa! It's actually not really illegal for Skrewy, since he's international.

That website is great. I've returned to it many times because sometimes you forget things. Here's some more sites:
http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/WebHome.html
http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/
http://www.kf-wiki.com/wiki/Help:Introduction_to_UnrealEd

Just make sure what you follow is for either Unreal 1 or Unreal 2, not Unreal 3.

Here's an invaluable link for you:

When you learn BSP, be very careful. Killaman's map was so fubar it took me quite a while to clean it up. Maybe he'll comment on that in a way that explains it better.

OMFG... Killa...

For removing SF Hospital doors? I would say no.

If you show legitimate skill with UnrealEd, that would help change my mind. It's not about control, it's about having the tool freely open for noobs to come here and complain and ask the same question over and over again. Not to mention, people having different maps installed and good maps making it into Assist. The best way to counter-act that (IMO anyway) is to make people work for it. I have no problem letting people with skill have it. Killaman and Koden certainly showed that. I think it needs to stay limited for now.

*edit*
Killa beat me to it. In before Skrewy says something about bending over for me.

It's Blue's fault, he should just move the topics instead of re-posting :)

I'm sure there's a couple hackers out there but I'm also sure that the percentage of them compared to legitimate players is considerably less than it was prior to Assist being mandatory. Assist has a bunch of stuff for anti-cheat that wasn't possible before. How is your "old" anti-cheat system any better?

Depends on what you define as "The good old days."

The days when AA was fun?

Cool, divide up the community even further. A second ladder and a private 3rd party anti-cheat system that isn't on all servers.

its not redneck enough chubbs, stick a gun rack on it.

And a 18" lift with tires twice as wide and 10x as knobby as your current ones.
[/sarcasm]

Really though, good job on having practical vehicles and not something that looks like it belongs off road or on a race track.

Yea, all I did was remove that lower part so it's all 1 surface. Then added tall playerblocks so people can't jump over ledges
