News / Re: Authorization & AAO25.com Back Online!
« on: Wednesday, June 20, 2012, 02:49:28 AM »
As far as I know it is just a coincidence. My web hoster's whole server went down, none of his sites were accessible and some threw SQL errors just before dying fully. Funny thing is, FTP was working fine the whole time.

Sorry for the several-hour delay. We are still not sure what caused it but the servers filled back up and the forums have new posts!

Assist isn't "installed" so the user can't select where the files go. I remember Jonny mentioning that the game files have to go there for permission reasons. "Documents and Settings" is for Windows XP, "Users/*username*/AppData/Roaming" is for Vista/7. Having the user select the default installation is another unnecessary step between downloading Assist and playing. It's easily changed for those that need it. I mean, if you have documents on another drive/partition, chances are good that you know how to move files and access the hidden folder Assist is in.

Ok so he either had 1,000 or 2,000 cans laying around. You can't crush the aluminum either, the machine won't take it. That's a lot of space being taken up.

$100? You had 2,000 cans laying around? When I lived in Oregon, I always liked doing that but I only ever let it get up to $5-$10 worth and did it before grocery shopping so the trip into the store wasn't wasted. Maybe keep them inside :)

Kind of... You could try to manipulate a DecoMesh. All breakable windows are DecoMeshes. You can make the health higher and then disable the "destroyedmesh" part of it.

if its going to be public, make it use a cached copy of logs files :)

That's kinda more code than what I'm willing to do to be honest. Any reason for this aside from server performance? I can sanitize all the inputs before releasing. Plus, the public script won't write any data, it will just be reading data. I don't think anything malicious could be done

Blue and me have been going over the current Assist Authorization Admin Control Panel, reworking it and making it better to accomplish tasks. I had an interesting thought earlier today though, I'm thinking of making the search function of it public. Basically, it would kind of be like AA Account History but... different. Here's some examples of the current layout and a bit of what it offers:

You can type in whatever you want. IP's, usernames, HWID's, even parts of kick errors. You CAN use it to cross-reference people's accounts by finding a user's HWID and searching for it. I'm kind of wondering if it would be good to make this part of the Assist Admin CP available to the public.

I don't really want to hassle with TS3 though. I don't mind hopping on to listen to you, Killa and Blue but... for others... eh.

Blue, since you know more about terrain than I do, is there a way to scale down the poly count without redoing the map?

Honor is also a motivation to play this game.

Am I missing something? Can you exchange honor points for cash money?

Starting with 2.7 the devs found a new method for encrypting UScript, pretty much makes it unreadable and difficult to find functions let alone read the code. That's why hackers turned to C++, that and C++ is faster.

So, no, to answer your question.
