OCCT is a stress testing program that has a pretty good GPU stresser in it. If you can stress your card without it crashing on the Microsoft drivers, perhaps you just need an older Nvidia driver. It's not like any of the 2xx or 3xx series drivers are helping your 8600GT out. Although with that said, I'm running the same card with the newest driver without any issues at all.

Is competing the point? Some impressive mods were born from not one but a collection of mods made by different players (look at some mods made for Half Life or even the Stalker series, some for Shadow of Chernobyl even take back the original gameplay from the alpha version of the game - lets say, going back to the roots).

Competing is good, it generates the best content for the users but at the same time it also makes entry really hard. Goose, I don't mean to give you a bad attitude or get you down about working in UnrealEd for AA. If you enjoy it and enjoy the game, keep it up because you are doing good work. I'm just saying, it's frustrating with AA and I'm sure it would be frustrating with another game, just different kinds of frustration. There's no real middle ground unless you're a paid game dev working for a big company :)

Did you install the same ones you previously downloaded or did you download new ones? I would download new ones in case there was something wrong with the previous ones.

^^ This. If you still get a BSOD from the latest official driver, grab OCCT and run the GPU stress test. If your computer crashes/freezes then I would be pretty sure it's the GPU that overheated or something like that. Is it under warranty?

Only interesting one is ARMA2. That's the downside to public editors though, EVERYBODY has it and the community for custom maps & mods is HUGE. How can you compete when you're a noob? But with AA, you can count the modders & mappers on 2 hands.

I feel ya man. I really do wish the community card. Working in UnrealEd is fun but not fun enough to deal with these people.

nobody cares

IMO you nailed it. Others tend to disagree with me though.

Could be. I think in Safe Mode that there's very little information displayed, "proper" drivers aren't used. You should get a hold of Driver Sweeper and delete everything "Nvidia". Then see if you can start in normal mode. If you can, download the latest Nvidia driver and see how that goes.

Nobody can stop you from coding & implementing them on your own server. But as far as getting them into Assist, some mods are allowed, others aren't. I'm not sure what Pit's stance on this is.

Hmm, I never knew C++ to be a hog, I always thought it was decent & fast, that's why it's popular. I've never coded with either though, just making subjective observations :) Feel free to ignore my thoughts.

ewwwy c++, go Java!

You might be forgetting that a lot of AA players have shit computers. IMO, Assist shouldn't run on a code base that is well known to be CPU intensive.

You're insinuating more with your comment than I am with mine.

Assist is written in RealBasic but Pit has interest in porting it to C++. Just a FYI :)

When I had my personal server, I spent a couple minutes trying to figure out what I needed to get it hosted for the web. I gave up. I think Assist automatically creates HTML files but you have to point a web server there to parse and serve those files.

I'd be wondering if it's part of the compass. I think the edges bend down like that.
