General Chat / Re: Question...
« on: Thursday, May 16, 2013, 02:21:24 AM »
So I pretty much made a useless map? I'm confused lol.. So theres no way possible to add this map to a server on assist? How is this not fixed after this long?
As they said, it depends on whether or not it was a Co-Op map.
If it was a Co-Op map, it can't be used on 2.5
If it was not a Co-Op map, it can be used in 2.5 after being converted. There's a person who knows how to do this, but right now he's on vacation (not an indefinite one). Bare in mind, not all features in 2.8.x will be available on 2.5 (most are if I'm not mistaken).

But I think it would help if you posted screenshots or other media about your map to give it more value before converting.

I don't agree that everybody is losing their mind.

And like I said in the other thread, Spanky can take responsibility for his actions.
And not to point fingers, but the forum rules state under No Flaming:
Quote
At no time will deliberate disrespect towards others be tolerated!
And If I'm not mistaken, that's what Spanky did.

Background Checks / Re: Noob Server

Like Sergio said, nobody got a traced record from playing on that server.
And since tracker is counting honor, nobody got any advantages from it (this time).

With that said, I really don't see the point in such servers...

So for the current maps to be available, Eliz would have to reverse engineer the converter to convert maps from 2.5 to 2.8.5 this time?

Honor Claims / Re: Honor Claim AA 2.5

Did I understand you right, that you just found an e-mail that said that was your username at some time?

Well I couldn't find the name on Battletracker, ACI history or Redsack. This could simply mean you didn't play with your account with that particular name.

I don't' know where you're looking for that profile, but I couldn't find it.

If you have your e-mail address, you can go to Battletracker and under forgot password enter your e-mail and hope you had your BT with the same name.

Unless of course you didn't have a Battletracker account at all before? Because as I mentioned, there's no more official support for the game so there's no way to log in to your profile as back in the day. The only ways to retrieve your honor (that I know of) I've already mentioned and those are Battletracker, ACI History and Redsack (plus www.draat.net as well I guess).

If you can't find your account on any of those sites, I don't know how to help you.

But as I mentioned, I'm far from allpowerful, there are admins here who could (I'm not saying they can, I just don't know) help you further than I can.

You can use the forgot password function for your Battletracker account, but for that you must definitely have access to the e-mail it's registered with.

I don't know how to help you further than that, but there might be admins here who could do a far better job than I ever will on finding your previous accounts.

All you need is to log in to your Battletrcaker.com (old aaotracker) account if you still remember the info. That's also the account you use to log in to Assist.

The US army dropped official support for the game so therefor there is no logging  in on their site or in the game and the trainings don't work either (done by default).

If you wish to find your username and/or honor, you can have a look around at http://history.anticheatinc.com/aa2/ or http://redsack.com/aastat/aa.htm or just search battletracker.com for you username (if you had an account there).

In a few hours I'll be offline for 3 weeks.

The topics so far..

Punkbuster
Battletracker
Linux/Mac
Hosting Home Server
DCDS
Keeping 25Assist for Mac/Linux Clients
Download Size of the Client

I'm sure there is more to be said on each of the topics, and please do.
Also feel free to voice your requests/concerns/questions here while I'm gone.

As I said, I'll be gone for 3 weeks, perhaps we'll have some kind of Community wide vote on if we proceed or not.

I promise you.. I will not think once about AA while sitting on the beach :)
Good luck on whatever holiday you decided to take, I bet it's gonna be wonderful! :)
You deserve it after all this hard work! ;)

Just type
Code: [Select]
demorec filename and you'll get a "filename.dem" file in your armyops\Demos folder.

Then to play it, all you need to do is type "demoplay filename" while the game is running.

I'm just going to ask a question many have asked before when there's talk of this:
What about Linux and/or Mac users? Could they still play?
I know there's not a whole lot of them, but I understand that's the reason 2.5 still existed next to 2.8.5 back when AA2 was popular, so it would be logical to include them if possible.

I remember saying that last year, why should we discuss the end of mod servers when we could just get rid of tracker...
I believe this was also discussed earlier somewhere on these forums. If I remember correctly, it was said that they still need tracker to track honor at least, if not anything else. Making they're own system for this would, of course, be possible, but would require quite a lot of coding.

Now you might argue, that honor isn't important either and you'd be right to some extent, but honor is still a sense of accomplishment and high honor still shows you've been around for quite some time. All in all I'm pretty sure you'd have far more people complaining about losing their honor "stats" then there would over the kills stats.

I don't know what "things" you're talking about, but if you knew quite a lot of people, there's still a fair chance someone might remember you.

rumors say, few english teachers suicided while this thread lasted
How can you insult people's English with such a grammatically incorrect sentence? It seems a bit hypocritical.

You need a capital letter for Rumors. There is no need for the comma after "say". "English" needs to be capitalized. "Suicided" isn't even a word. Lastly, you need a period.
Plus, "few" in this context means "not many", but what he meant to say was "some" and he should have used "a few".
