Hardware/Software / Re: Get the most out of your computer sound
« on: Thursday, December 20, 2012, 17:02:34 PM »
but in this game is hearing enemy better more important than sound quality

That is an opinion and not one shared by the developers. Why would the devs go to such great length to record accurate sounds just to have some random person with no experience in audio engineering come along and play with a crossover that just mangles their hard work?

Another funny thing, if you have a good audio setup, you don't need to tweak. With a quality system, sounds are replicated as they should be. But, if you want to go ahead and blast your ears with bloated treble and your 128kbps MP3's be my guest. I'm just saying, that's not what this thread is about.

I can't report something like the things some of you mentioned. I'm still enjoying the game and don't get bored at all. Yea, our player community is small, but that doesn't mean that every round is the same than the round before, that's just not possible. It may happen that certain players behave in a certain way on certain mapy, but that has always been the case. Trying to find workarounds or counter tactics is what still evolve the game.

AA has small maps with a couple of ways to travel. You always know where the enemy is coming from and with such a small community, you're playing with the same people. The math says that it will very quickly get repetitive.

The funny thing is, you don't need any settings to get the best sound. You're not supposed to hear across the map. I don't have a "sound card" and I run Windows 7 yet I hear everything I need to in AA. The only things lost are some of the EAX effects but AA didn't fully utilize those and they're not that great anyway.

This thread isn't about tweaking your sound to hear enemies better. It's about better sound quality.

mAAp Project / Re: The new mAAp Pipeline

I see the problem with the windows now. bCollideActors = False. But the reason why I didn't see it is that the collision was detected server-side (I test on a lan server to see what things look like online) whereas there was no collision in single-player.

Could you guys use this to test:
http://aao25.com/maap/server-launching-for-devs/

I doubt anybody is going to be playing this map singleplayer, so I just want to make sure everything works in multiplayer.

I will fix the spiderwebs as well :) Thanks!

I just tested in a server and decals showed up. But I can't get the bathroom stall door to do anything. What a weird thing, I don't even do anything with that.

I went through and redid the colors for the zones, everything looks so much more stressed now.

i like it. just a few things:
-of course you know about the mirror thing being screwy. Can I see people? I couldn't see myself.
-its weird seeing bathroom doors with windows on them. no privacy?
-I kept shooting things and there were no pings, or bullet holes anywhere. Glass also wouldn't break. Maybe because I launched offline? I was able, however, to shoot the camera.
-The water leak looks awesome.
- The lens flare is pretty cool.
- Bathroom stall door didnt open but I heard the noise.
- I like the red/green light by the obj
- Could have been just me but when i was running from vent access room stairs to break room stairs, it seemed like there was a lot of stuff in the way on the floor making it annoying to navigate.

Thanks Jason.
- The mirror, you can see other people but you can't see yourself because you don't exist. Seriously. Do "behindview1" in the console and you will appear.
- I will change the bathroom doors, it kind of adds suspense as well. I'm trying to make that a stressful area of the map.
- No decals eh? Are your settings on low? Maybe they're disabled? I'll check on my end.
- I moved the objects in break room around, added playerblocks to them as well for less buggy whatnots.

On the rest, thanks :)

With the mAAp update coming in the next couple weeks, I'd like as much feedback as possible on this update for Pipeline. I have updated the original post with a current download link to the latest version. Post any bugs or suggestions you may have :)

trust me... every day, every single day with a friend (on facebook) we try to "feed the flame" with our ex clan m8 and italian community. We also are searching a game that can allow us the same emotions, but till now nothing... we are imprisoned in the memory of the best America's Army period...

I believe you and that's great that you try to get word of mouth going around. I agree that most all of us are here because we once had a great time in AA and want to recreate those memories. Some are able to, others aren't.

Redo the screenshot for the statistics. It's obvious that you're photoshopping it. Your monitor has poor grey colors (like mine, that's why I didn't notice at first) but if you zoom in, there is obvious difference between the background of the 250 and the background of the stats altogether.

U'd be surprised honestly

Yea, I think it's actually higher than that. Didn't Jonny say it was up in the thousands? It's just that people come and go so frequently.

If people are anything like me, i love the idea of aa, but when i actually sit down to play it.... i'm bored in 10 seconds, its had its day.

This is exactly how I feel.

Not to mention the photoshop job is way too obvious.

Woah, at a quick glance, I didn't even notice it. Yea, don't include that. Maybe make it 200 or something, that's more realistic.
