I'm pretty sure you're perfectly OK on creating such a server and it shouldn't be any more vulnerable to cheater than any other server. The only thing, like ELiZ mentioned, would be that it's not tracked.
An other question could be how many players join your server.
As for help on it, I'm sure some people here can help you. I know 82nd used to run a pick a weapon server back when they were still tracked. Just ask around, people are generally pretty friendly, I find

I don't know where exactly, but I'm pretty sure Merlin wrote about something to do with the server's .ini files and they figured out (with ELiZ) that there were 2 .ini's and Assist only uses one. I don't remember the details, maybe Merlin can help or maybe you can search his post.

« on: Thursday, January 30, 2014, 15:43:01 PM »Reason is, 2.8.5 maps are encrypted and AA 2.5 doesn't know how to read that stuff so all the regular map information is like, in another language and it crashes because it doesn't understand.I know, that's why ELiZ made the converter. Because of that in order to play/test a map made for 2.8.5 you need to use that version of the game (or the equivalent editor).

Went to start-> typed in ArmyOps.exe, found the version in Assist, opened that folder, went up a folder and dropped in Maps, then ran ArmyOps.exe and used the 'open' command. 'start OBT' doesn't work either

And I don't think opening maps 'with' armyops.exe has ever worked. What you need to do is start armyops.exe and when it's loaded type

Bravha has gone idle multiple times during scrims and being able to play the whole map is one of the few requirements for scrimming. For most people they would be kicked out but we all like you Bravha so we still try to fit you in on occasion. Come on tonight
