For assist it's

I will continue on the quest of the source. All it took was one asshole to turn this into what it is. Instead of it properly being handled it has now been killed completely by ignorant idiots. You wanted to play you get to play AA$ that is no more AA2 or Assist.

No they didn't go into anything. You obviously know nothing about how detection works. If you think that then you need to sue PB. They do the same thing. You even agreed to it when you installed the game to allow them or you don't play the game.

Can't do it without the Assist server it forces you to quit no option so only command line.

I have no legal background and would love to see AA2 source made available.  That said here is another argument pulled from that same thread:
17 USC § 105 applies to Government works but probably not to Military and Military subcontracts.

The way I see it, they aren't going to just give away the source code.  If someone wants it they would have to spend the time/money and go through lawyers to attempt to get it released.

Subcontractors fall under the same rules, unless the project is deemed classified/Top Secret. Then you will not see it for 60 years or better.

US doesnt care about Law, as they go and Spy w/e country they want.

So basically you have given up. Any ace you have isn't an Ace it's a joker as you see it. I was involved in buying a game a long time ago, it was Front Page Sports Football 98 ( The Franchise ) we spent 6 months on the project signed NDA's and raised of 2.3 million in capital only to have EA walk in and buy it all. It is what you call Madden today. They took Dynamix FPSF and made it Madden. I liked it as FPSF, I don't care for Madden. I still have FPSF and still play it. May not look as nice and real as Madden but it plays. I can also say we made the attempt. Can you?

That topic was recently explored and there is just about no chance of getting the source code.
http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=9084&hilit=source+code

An important excerpt from the thread:

Let me give it to you this way, US Tax payer money paid for this so it does not belong to the army or Epic.

17 USC § 105 - Subject matter of copyright: United States Government works
Copyright protection under this title is not available for any work of the United States Government, but the United States Government is not precluded from receiving and holding copyrights transferred to it by assignment, bequest, or otherwise.

Epic screwed itself when entering the deal with the government/military. It's the law not their choice.

the game belongs to the Army, the Army doesn't wan't to pay PB to support it anymore and aswell dosn't want AA2 anymore. thats it.

You ust stated it belongs to the Army, it can't it was payed for using tax payer money so it belongs to the people so it has to be made open to the public that is why it is a free game. SO if you want to attempt to acquire the source code send me a message and we will make a run at it.

Then we go after the source code. just so everyone knows PB does this "PunkBuster usually searches for known cheat program signatures as opposed to relying on a heuristic approach." I think they won't support it due to it won't support their new version of PB.

actually the ac did went a bit far when it comes to searching for cheat files on users :D

Ok then let's discuss acquiring the real source for AAO 2 from AA. so it can be upgraded or talk to the PB guys about maybe updating PB to be used with AAO 2. There are options here.
