The Lounge / Re: New Computer build list. Any thoughts?
« on: Sunday, April 17, 2016, 12:50:22 PM »
Hey. So i only play AA 2.5. I dont play any other games on my PC and not really interested in playing any other pc games in the near future. I have my xbox one for that. But the main reason why i am building this computer this way is because i am a day trader. Thats what i do for a living. I have multiple charts open at one time, multiple research websites, chatroom and live news streaming service. So intenese multitasking. And i think the computer that i have build here will do the job just fine for that. Let me know what you think Koden, you seem to be a specialist at this. Thanks bud.
I'm not a specialist, I assembled my own pc but I don't do that as an hobby/job. If you only play AA2 that card is even more than you need, although even Bernard is right about Nvidia (they worked better for me than the Radeons I had). That CPU has an unlocked multiplier that is meant for overclocking, but if you need to multitask heavily, the i7 6700 is surely good at it...if you want even more performance (overkill to me) you can move to the 12 cores cpus or the (insanely priced) Xeon which use different and more expensive motherboards (they're dedicated to workstations and server use). If you need to drive several monitors you might take a look at Quadro cards (for Nvidia) or FirePro (for Amd).

Have you ever read source code of an actual GPU driver?

...no, and what a pointless question. Have you? (You haven't even replied to my legitimate questions, tho).

Don't listen to such idiotic opinions. Beef up CPU and RAM as much as you can do.

Hah. Ok, let's hear...do you play other games than just AA2? Do you play on pc or on Mac? Have you ever assembled a system or your own?

Well that's a beefy build...I guess you don't play just America's Army, do you? That graphic card is rather old, and I don't know about Visiontek...if I were you I would go with either Gygabyte, Asus or Msi cards (their support service should be better). That CPU is rather overkill for gaming, will work wonders if you need CPU power for apps that actually properly use all the cores (3d rendering, video editing, etc). Same goes for the ram (16 gb is a lot for gaming purposes already).

The psu seems more than fairly sized for that build, if its outputting all the power its sold for, but being an evga unit it surely isn't the cheapest build from the lot (could be a rebrand of another maker as seasonics does for the Antec ones).

Mouse wise, that depends on which kind of use (whether both for gaming and work) and your preferences...

si esatto!

anyway its not simple to make a clan with a this few people we have in aa2.5 in this moment..
there are not many italian players, so i want to find new friends ;)
I think there might be another Italian guy playing quite often, its Gianko73 I believe. But on the other hand, its indeed not "healthy" for you to limit your team just to Italian players.

hi all,

i have just rent a new server :
Name:  ITALY-------K).illers K).lan-------ITALY
IP: 176.57.184.45:1716

Im looking for playeradmins who play a lot..

i dont have to much time to spend, and when i want to play i would like to find the server running with many players  ;)

Let me know for who is interessed!

 :style:
Hah, botte piena e moglie ubriaca insomma...I don't honestly know who you could count on. Besides, you should already have someone considering you're part of a team (I guess?).
Most of the people using the shoutbox these days is already part of a team (and therefore dedicated to gather players for their own server, usually), otherwise there would be quite an handful of friendly people you might talk to.

Oh man he's doing the same shit on AA:PG, unbelievable
When he's on defense he basically sits at the west wing corridor, or in the garden (basically the spawn) pretty much for the entire round, occasionally he would camp other spots totally prone with a m249 :D when he's on assault he just camps the west wing corridor and literally waits for you to get bored and move ahead, even if he has the flag (I've seen him losing so many rounds because of that).

Well said! Seeing =PAF=Eisenhertz camping non-stop nowdays in AA: PG reminds me always of AA2 :)
God, I'm glad we all agree about Eis, he's so damn awful to look at .^^

yes Koden, there are aapg servers to rent. same conditions. but this money will not flow to aa2 ;) - first i have to finance my clanpage, then i maybe spend also money from there to aa2. but you can tell me your account on the virgin islands  :P

you can test the servers for a month, then you have to pay for it after 30 day - so not in advance. if you are not happy, dont pay and i will stop the server. sounds fair i guess.
Got it, i wouldn't care where the cash is going to anyway :p I'm not asking for myself, I just happened to have a few friends who could be interested.

Located in Zürich, Switzerland. Best Ping, as i could see, is for Eastern Europe. You do not need to restart the servers, they will be restarted automaticaly ever day at 07.00 CEST. If you like to change anything, just mail it, and its done 24 hrs. later.

Do you happen to make the same deal for AAPG servers? I might have a couple people interested.

ok how about corner peeking , obviously if u can see farther using the corner of your screen rather then the middle something is a bit off.......but as far as i can remember back to 1.0 this has always been the way this game is..... :style: :D
I know of a similar issue in a different game caused by the way fog or smoke volumes are built. In that game (which happens to be aapg), these volumes are basically made out of a few flat planes (imagine 2 planes forming a x) to which the smoke "texture" is projected onto. Of course, the planes are rotated in real time to the direction you're looking at, but if you turn almost parallel to them, at the peripheral area you will likely see the edge of the smoke volume instead of the core. You could reduce the issue by using more of the planes, but that would cost a lot in term of performance, and smoke or particles rendition are among the most costly effects you can render in a game, performance wise.

Live streamed games are a good idea, which (if advertised) may make bring us some more popularity.

Live streaming and commenting like they do on Twitch you mean? It is a good thing indeed but AA2 streams/commentaries might be a little niche because of the rhythm, people tend to prefer watching faster action over the more subtle tactics and planning this game is supposed to be enforcing.

From 2013 till some time this year I played on a laptop bought in 2008, with Intel Core2Duo P8700 and Nvdia 9650M GT (1GB dedicated)+4GB ram+5200rpm HDD and I still managed to whoop some asses :)
Plus, I've never had too much money so I've always only used budget laptops, the current one being this (and btw this one was never meant for gaming).
The Nvidia 9x00 series was really good back then, I still have a desktop fanless version of a 9600gt.
The laptop from that link seems very decent for the price, you might even play a couple modern games on it (on the lowest settings), Intel has done several steps ahead in comparison to the past.

Well, then I guess Koden is correct...
Between 2006 and 2010 I used to play aa2 and many other games on a laptop with the 2nd gen. Intel centrino t2400 @1.83 ghz + an ati x1800 mobile, it was powerful back in the day, but by today's standard even a proper basic notebook easily has more power. Of course budget laptops lack in 2 areas, screen quality and chassis build quality.
