One thing i asked myself is when figuring out what i wanted to do in my life was... "If money was as common as air, what would I like to be doing." IMO, i would rather do something I love to do and make some money, than do something I hate for a outstanding paycheck. I started wanting to set up computer networks for companies, and I realized that doing design and programming is what made me happy, it was a daily test of how smart I was, problem solving and just having fun. With this, I found a community of people that where fun, at my office, we play darts, drink beer and whiskey we go outside and play soccer in the middle of the day. It makes a difference if you want to go to work, or if you dread work. Do something for you, not anyone else, not the paycheck, not the parents, but for you.

Very good advice. I still have quite awhile to think about it, but I am heavily leaning towards my current choice.

Good thing you do not need to be an intellectual or intelligent to be just a computer engineer...

Thanks for the helpful advice Dann, you always know the right things to say.

I couldn't really see myself doing any other career either. I am always interested in learning new things, especially in the way of computers. I have learned a few things in my spare time  (basic photoshop, extremely basic pokemon scripting, extremely basic knowledge of computer hardware) but I am either too lazy or just do not have the time to learn other things that require a lot of time and a lot of effort to do. I like the sound of being a mystery man though.  8)

Ideally, wouldn't it be the same thing?

Computers is a huge field with a lot of different career opportunities. I knew I wanted to do one of them, I just didn't know which one.

Spanky, I know what I like, I just don't know what to do for a career.I knew I wanted to have a career in computer, I just didn't know exactly what.

I also want to know how you could possibly associate a career choice with someone's maturity.

... so you're going to college to learn something that you don't want as a career?

Not necessarily. I am interested in computer engineering. What I meant by my statement was that I really had no set career in mind when I was "supposed to".  So basically I find computer engineering interesting, I just never really thought about it, or any other career for that matter, until recently.

It really sucks not really knowing what you want to do, but I will never know if I like it or not until I try it.

You don't seem interested in computer engineering. I've not seen any interest or traits on your part.

I'm not really interested in anything on a career level. I do love working with computers so I figured why not?

I have decided to go to The University of Michigan Dearborn to study Computer Engineering.

Not that it is really any concern of you guys, I just though it would be nice to let everyone know.  ;)

Both of you are in violation of Rule #9. To give you both a brief reminder of this rule I will restate it here, "IX.  Further more there shall be no conversation containing or otherwise pertaining to the obvious revelation of obscene content/language. However, any conversation pertaining to the possible attempt by a member at posting such materials will otherwise be removed by a moderator at his/her discretion."
This leaves only one question, are you man enough to moderate the administrator?

Why in the world would you need 8gb of ram? Seems like a giant waste of money.

See, I would think it's his hard drive if he was low-ish on RAM and the game was hitting up the paging file frequently but that doesn't really sound like the issue here. I'm stumped to be honest. We went through anything I could think of on X-Fire. Did you ever defrag Killaman?

I forgot to, I'll do that tonight.

EDIT: What  program should I use? I some how lost the one I used last time.

So you must never play games with audio or listen to music.

I do play games with audio, I just don't think a sound card would make a big enough of a difference to warrant the price. I also mostly listen to music on my Zune rather than my PC.

In other words, I would love to have a sound card, I just don't want to pay for one.

It could also be your harddrive.

Any way to test that?
