I needed a headset so I bought these for $30.

I know they are not that good of quality but $30 is great price considering it was only $10 more than the shitty headset I had before.

Can't you change the overall sound profile in windows to headphone instead of speaker? Did you try the control panel options for the audio? There might be an option there that'll make it louder changing the actual volume.

I tried changing it to headphones, but couldn't find a way to do so.

Anyways, this problem is solved. I forgot to plug the HDA cable into the motherboard (couldn't find the slot) so the front audio panel didn't work. I fixed it and now it works fine.  ;D

That's... not right. It wouldn't do that. Maybe it's something to do with how Dell made the hardware but I'd be surprised if there's a difference. It's just a regular output. You should be able to get them plenty loud through the back output, loud enough to hurt.

I can' even get it as loud as it was before I re formated it, let alone loud enough to hurt. I though it might have something to do with the computer classifying it as speakers and saying that there are no headphones connected.... All I know is that the sound is quieter and i get some crackling when listening to music at full volume.

They are always tricky. Best just to avoid them if possible that way you avoid wasting your time, dealing with crappy wire and possible grounding issues that introduce noise.
The only problem is that when I plug my headphones into the back of the computer, it reads them as speakers. It does not go as loud and just sounds overall worse than when I plugged them into the front panel. I don't know, it might just be the driver I'm using.

Lets see some pics then :P

once I have to open up my case again, which will probably be soon since the front headphone and mic in ports are not working, but the front USB ports are.  :-\

Needs more cable management :)

The picture was right after I put everything in. The cable management is better now. :)
