Server Support / Re: login not possible anymore
« on: Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 01:12:40 AM »
works fine for me thx for the fast reaction assist team . respect!!
No account history anymore !
The account history might still be available in the future.

I also sucessfully pinged battletracker.com yesterday... No idea what's going on there.

Too bad Homey is inactive and it might be days (or even more?) before he even realises his site is down...

Ban Appeals / Re: 2? Account!
« on: Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 14:50:13 PM »
If I understand you correctly and you're saying you saw someone who's banned playing, they are circumventing their ban, so you should just tell us what account you're talking about and we will take action.

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: 24 hour ban "bug"
« on: Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 10:34:18 AM »
The next time I get either of the bugs I'll try to recollect what happened in the instance.

Although I'm not entirely sure I've got the 'The ban is permanent' message in a while and I don't know what causes it, but I have seen quite a few people on the shoutbox complain about being banned permanently. While it is entirely possible that it has indeed happened that an admin on the server banned some of the people, I know some of them can connect back up in 10 or so minutes.

But like I said, the next time I encounter one of them, I'll try and document it.

News / Re: Using mouse macros in 25Assist is now detected.
« on: Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 10:29:16 AM »
BocaNegra, feel free to post the link where America's Army developers said macros are ok. Until you do, quit using that as an excuse. Is the game really worth keeping alive if it's full of cheaters?

I doubt you can edit the user.ini to shoot more often and even if you could, it will be detected. I also highly doubt you can make yourself more difficult to die in the user.ini. Feel free to prove me wrong with some proof.

A few comments...

1) The original developers were neither for nor against macros.  They were publically silent on the issue.
2) Macros do not equal to cheating, per se, but rather obtaining an unfair advantage, this is against the ethics of the game itself.  Sort like bringing a gun to a knife fight... you can do it and nothing stops you from doing it, but is it really fair?
3) The ini file does indeed have some options that allow an unfair advantage...  This is why CVAR checks were introduced in PB, so I don't get why Boca would even this this is a problem, because it is not.
4) The biggest problem in all games is the real-time injection of object code into the stack.  Properly designed, even the operating system has no idea what it going on.

I could comment on "hackers" versus script kiddies and the like.  In my opinion the latter are a scourge on gaming (as only an idiot would pay for "skilz"), the former I have respect for (as an engineer who has reverse engineered, i.e. hacked, both hardware and software in a former life).  BTW: I use the term "hacker" in the traditional sense, not the new found post-gaming era definition... Hacking used to be an honored tradition, but alas, it is now viewed in a poor light due to the negative connotations with the art...

Bottomline, If someone wanted to get an undetected advantage, it is simplier than anyone realizes.  I won't offer any guidance, but lateral thinking is all that it required (and a soldering gun).  If someone wants to cheat badly enough, nothing will stop them.  But ask yourself, is winning in a PC game so important that you are willing to cheat to get there?  Seems like a substitute for self-esteem... maybe you should see a psychiatrist.

OIC!
I like your post. Thank you.

Where's the "Like" button when you need one? :D

Assist Support / Re: Hey Spanky activation.......
« on: Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 04:07:02 AM »
Yes, Spanky. Do something!

I activated your account.

We changed our activation process to be automatic, so I guess some of the people who hadn't played for a long time (or some other kind of error occurred) were not automatically activated.

No idea why it was set to 24H, was before my time here.

When the client is told that the ban is permanent, is that by the AA Client or the Assist Client?
It's AA.

And Merlin, the point is not to let people join servers that are not logged in through Assist, because then they could be using all the cheats they wish. The ban, I would guess, is just there to ward them off. 5 minutes is good, because with connection problems (which is often a cause for this), it might take more than that to get it sorted out anyway.

I think he wants another account cause he have seen another guy with also 2 accounts

at least thats what i can make of it
That's about the same I figured.

However, since you  were banned for a week, your new account will not be activated until that week is up.

I think lowering it to 5 minutes would work.

However, I'm pretty sure there's another 'bug' ban for some weird things where the games says the ban is permanent, while in reality it will be gone in 10-20 minutes...
Not sure of how or when it happens, though.

Just to clarify, because Barddal doesn't seem to understand this:
All the people who were banned are welcome to make a new account after a week of being banned and are then welcome to keep playing.

Ignorance? I? So I'm a little disappointed by this ban have taken that to me was unfair eliz, without even having been warned or anything! Ate because as far as I know no macro and xiter! or e? Because after so many years of AA so now decide to do this? without at least to consider the fact ate because everyone use configuration and a mouse and not do miracles! See much deny cries coming here saying this and that! If you look straight my longest playing time maps are in SF and not with M16 where it needs macro!
Macros are not and NEVER WERE allowed. It's just that now, thanks to ELiZ, we've come to a point where we can DETECT them.

As for not getting a warning warning:
